j2narchitecture
Hi. Is there a way to automatically frame a shed and gable roof so that their fascias align? I want the gable and shed roof fascias to be clean and continuous. Any help is appreciated. Thank you kindly.
GeneDavis
Examine both roofs in a section view to see which one is more readily raised or lowered, framing-wise. Then open the one you choose as fixed-no-edit, copy its fascia height, close, open other roof for spec, lock its pitch, and past in that fascia height. Done. Just like you did way back in X12 and X13. You will need to edit the intersections. Reframe.
j2narchitecture
@genedavis. Hello Thank you. I tried with no luck. Maybe because it is that I have the shed roof as an overframe onto the gable (which is how I would like it to be built).
GeneDavis
Any roof plane can be moved in 3D space. In a 3D view with roof planes turned on, all framing off, select one or both of the laid-on wings. Do a screencap pic of what you see, and post it here. All four planes shown here have the same fascia height. Edited Friday at 05:35 PM by GeneDavis
j2narchitecture
Here are current screen shots. All 4 fascias are set to same height. On the 3D framing view, I was able to use the "join and lap ends" framing tool to get the fascias to join like I want them. It is not carrying over to the 3D full view, nor elevation drawings. Attached is also a concept pic of my end goal.
GeneDavis
So fascia height is not your issue? Please explain what you cannot find a way to do.
BenPalmer
Join the two roofs where they intersect and the attic wall will fill the space.
j2narchitecture
Hi. @GeneDavisMy goal is to. have the fascias of the gable and shed roof to be continuous - like the area in the red box. Hope that makes sense. @BenPalmer The joining roofs option would work, but for framing/construction purposes, I want to show the shed roof being framed over/on top of the gable roof. Solution GeneDavis Posted Friday at 08:06 PM Solution Share Posted Friday at 08:06 PM (edited) Like this? Edit the upper roof to pull back the section of overhang the lower roof lays on. I pulled it back to the center of the wall so the wall rises as you want to see it. Edited Friday at 08:07 PM by GeneDavis
