creating a custom overhead door

I created this cutom overhead door because I can never find one with the windows in the middle that so many large commercial overhead doors have. When I made the symbol, it shows the windows in the door but when I put it into the plan, the windows disappear. What did i do wrong?  I recently had made a walk door with a window and had no problems.

Change the number of panels on your door to be 1.

But, if I were you, I would draw the panels individually on your symbol, so that it looks nice in elevation views.  Then you can place the windows more accurately, and it would be realistic to how the doors actually are built.

If you draw multiple panels on your door symbol, you still set the number of vertical panels to "1" like I mentioned above.

 

I attached a "plan view" screenshot of my OH door plan.  I just use this plan to create OH doors when I need a different size, or custom OH door.

I did draw different sections but that too does not show up. And it is set to 1 panel. I wish there was a way to have 2 different panels and then I could rearrange them in their location? I don't ever see that option show up.

Can you send the symbol over and we can look at it?

 

Meaning just export that library item from your library, and attach it here.

Hi Jennifer! You probably just need to rotate your symbol.

• From the Library Browser, find the door and select Open Object. 
• Go to the 3D tab, and rotate the symbol once in the Z axis. Press OK
• Then, in any view, simply use the replace object tool.
