How Do You Identify the Actual Paint Color/Material Applied to a Wall Surface?

What is the fastest and most reliable way to identify the actual paint/material currently applied to a wall surface?

Put a 1/16" thick interior & exterior layer in the wall type.

or specify a wall covering in the room.

Then select the paint color from one of the paing catalogs as the material

Thank you, @Joe_Carrick I appreciate the response. I must not have communicated my question clearly.

I am not trying to apply a new paint color to the wall. I am trying to determine what paint/material has already been applied to an existing wall surface in the plan.

I’m working in an older plan and cannot remember what paint color/material was previously assigned to a particular wall. Grateful for you.

Select the Wall and open the dialog.  Then select the materials tab

That is what I thought, but for some reason I don't see a color listed.

Maybe it was never added to the Wall.

You should be able to use the "define material" (aka rainbow) tool in a camera view to see what material is being used.
