JBi-PDX Posted April 9 Share Posted April 9 Okay, I'm going to play stupid. Interior designer here who does extensive drawings for my projects. I want to do a couple of ceiling treatments inside tray ceilings. It's easy enough to show T&G using a 3D CAD solid and applying a material to it. But, I want to do another one using nickel gap in a diamond like pattern (4 triangles that meet in the middle). Is there any easy way to do this or is it just a lot of tedious manual work using 3D solid? Just thought I'd ask the community. Thanks. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You should be able to set the material on the top and sides to anything you want. Not to put too fine of a point on it, but I guess you could use all ceiling planes for the triangle shape with 0 pitch. I'm not saying its much different modeling complexity but at least you'd have some layer control if you wanted to put a plywood furring layer instead of drywall. JBi-PDX Posted April 12 Author Share Posted April 12 Thanks, all, for the advice. I ended up using 3D solids allowing me control over the spacing between boards (like a true nickel gap). It was a little tedious but the effect is what I wanted.
