clay1205
Hello. I have not posted much but have read alit of your tips. Very helpful, so thank you. Wanted to ask, how do you folks deal with the typical wall sections required for permitting? I used AutoCAD for 20 years before switching to Chief, and I would never think of going back, but I still use it for my wall sections since I have not found a good way to generate a detailed section in Chief. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Using X16 not 12.... Thanks in advance. Edited January 28 by clay1205
PitMan71
I just draw them in Chief. Once you get the hang of it, it's easier than Autocad. I still use LT BTW, but only for Acad projects. if you would like more info maybe we could chat on the phone sometime.
DBCooper
You can do one of the following: - draw them from scratch - import them from another cad program - start with a stock one and then modify it (there are some available in the cad block libraries) - start with a cross section view and then add whatever cad, dimensions, and annotations you need - start with a cross section view and then convert it into a cad detail using the cad detail from view" tool This tech article might help: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00766/creating-cad-details.htm
joey_martin
These are live camera views. I cut 12" sections from my model and label them.
ComputerMaster86
Even though Chief is a 3D program it still has a lot of great 2D drawing tools that make drawing details almost a breeze. They even revised / improved angle snaps (angle guides) in X17 for even more flexibility.
