Hello Guy's and Gal's,

If I know that one of my drawings were drawn in Version X4 and I know longer have it installed in my computer, would I not be able to see the file at all? Would I have to reinstall X4, for the file to even appear?

I think X8 opens earlier files

You should be able to open an X4 file with X17.

 

There's probably going to be some conversion glitches and stuff, but you should still be able to open and work on the plan.

Im thinking the plan file im looking for is just not there. I found layout files but the plan files that were attached I cant find anywhere in my computer. Not sure how plan files got deleted but the layout files are still there.

If you only have the layout files, you probably won't be able to do much with them without the plan files.  All the layout files really do is organize your views from the plans and without the actual plans there isn't going to be anything to show.  Unless you sent some views as images, they will probably all be missing.
