Under X17 I have been sending pics to the project so how do I get the pics to layout?

Gene,

Same as before but the location of the source file is outside of the CA project manager.

This means that there needs to be a file system separate from CA that stores images, cad files etc for insertion.

I think CA needs to move this into the project manager, and if there is a way now, I don't know it.

Currently if you are using "Managed Mode" Chief Architect will not let you import PDF files, images, DWG's, etc. into your plan or layout file that are stored within a project.  I have complained about this on the forum and requested that chief allow us to import things that are stored in our projects.  If you import the item into the "Asset Manager" first, you can insert from the "Asset Manager" into a plan or layout file.

I thought I liked the setup whereby you "store" the images in the project, until I ran into this.  The hack I just did was to export the image to my desktop, from where it is readily "importable" to a layout page.  To keep the desktop clean, I delete it from there after importing to the Chief layout page.

I tested saving the layout, then going to  desktop and deleting the image file, then reopening the layout, and the image is still there.

But this sucks.  Chief should have thought this through.  Look at all the images they have in any of their samples of layouts.  One should be able to send any image in the project file directly to layout.
