thomhu
Hello, I am working on a 5' wide wheelchair ramp for a new client. I would like to show the deck of the ramp to be made of Azek decking in solid pieces. I am able to change the default concrete to a hardwood floor look with many joints. I would like to show solid 5/4 x 6 decking boards with the azek color and texture. I have been able to change the material to the Chief library's Azek decking through Materials in the specification dialogue, but it takes away the individual boards and makes the whole ramp have the azek texture. What would be the easiest way to do this? Thanks for your time, Thomas Huntington Huntington Construction LLC Chief X17 Windows

Try this: ^^ Set the Newel Width to whatever you want the spacing between the deck boards. ^^ Bottom Rail Width should match your ramp width, and Horiz. Offset should be half that. ^^ You will likely need to rotate the Azek material 5

NRST8TRKR
Won't it have to have a rail for code?
thomhu
Wow Chrisb222 , that is an amazing solution! Seems like an issue that shouldn't need an amazing solution, but thanks for sharing! Here's my summary of what you are telling Chief to get the desired result - is this right? 1. Make a single rail on one side as high as the thickness of the deck material 2. Give it a bottom rail but no top rail and no balusters 3. Make newel posts the same thickness as the gap you want between boards 4. Make newel post spacing the same as board width 5. Make bottom rail same width as ramp, the same height as floor material, and offset to middle of ramp. 6. Use material in spec dialogue to Change newel material to insulation air gap (invisible material) 7. Use material in spec dialogue to Change rail material to material texture you want for ramp floor 8. Use adjust material definition rainbow icon to rotate material in texture dialogue. thomhu
Yes will definitely need rail......Drawing railings on top of the ramp worked, but showed up level. Didn't see how to slope. I drew two more ramps - one on either side with automatic rails turned on. Then shrink the width of each to just a couple of inches and turn off one side of the auto rails. Details not perfect but pretty close. I suppose could also use azek texture on the ramp and hand draw lines in to represent the individual boards if it's for a permit drawing.....
