PitMan71
Is there a way to have chief display or generate roof decking pattern? Ultimately I would like to see a layout with quantity. I have done some searching on this and I am not finding anything. Thanks
VHampton
Not sure if your question is regarding a visual for the structure or the finished deck area. If for the structure... use a grid pattern w/ an offset. Set the size to 48" x 96". This is typically how roof sheathing (decking) is laid out. In a grid pattern. If on the other hand this is for illustrating deck boards... 3-1/2" wide hatch can be used or 5/4 x 4 ....or 5-1/2" wide hatch for 5/4 x 6. Apologies if this response is stating the obvious. One only needs to make a poly-line in order to create the skin to represent the roof surface. That poly-line can be given a label which indicates the precise surface area.
para-CAD
So far as I can tell you can create a schedule to show the square footage of each roof plane and then divide that by 32 to get number of sheets. It would be a cool feature if that was built in to the material master list and you could add a value of 15% for waste

I would like to see a plywood decking layout with a quantity. Common takeoff methods are to calculate the roof area and divide by 32.... it would great though is the program actually placed the plywood on the roof in a way that could be displayed showing takeoff quantity is accurate with whole pieces and cut pieces. Sounds like it may be a good enhancement request.
