How to make a second floor without mirroring the bottom floor?

Hey guys, I havent been on here in a while and just been working on a house plan that we would like to build.  Found a house, love the layout but cant figure out how to draw the upstairs with the big sloped roof as you see...  Here is the actual house and then my attempt....  (Very rough, so no laughing)
Not sure how to build out those gable-ended loft areas.  (3 in total)

You can start by letting Auto Roof draw it for you and the modify as needed. You can also select the walls for the garage and your front porch and mark them as 'Full Gable Wall' (in the roof tab of the DBX) or use the gable wall tool on the lower toolbar. Im trying that but the way each room upstairs is setup, its like a loft so Im missing something  These red lines, show the actual room size (approximate).

You'll have to create a second floor if you want conditioned rooms in that space. Select 'Make new blank plan for the 2nd floor' then draw in the walls manually.

Create a second floor.  Set the default ceiling height at 1.5".  create rooms over the garage and for the large dormer to 24" or whatever height you think the knee walls are.  Mark your gables and let auto-roofs do it's thing.  Tinker with the heights until you get what close to what you want.  You'll have to do some manual editing.  Turn off auto-roofs and adjust. Set the default ceiling height to full ceiling height. 

 

The front dormer roof eaves will have to be manually pulled down. .
