AngelaH
This may sound strange, but I cannot see where the toolbar and drawing area are to start my first drawing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

para-CAD
At times your Chief journey will be amazing and then frustrating. And then amazing and frustrating. Over time you will have more good times than bad. Chief Architect is really quite amazing. CA has a huge library of videos that are very well organized by topic. People on this site are often pretty helpful but it helps them to see your computer specs and CA s/w version (in your signature block) so that they have more background info to go on when they jump in to help. There are huge PDF user manuals available if you like to academically search for answers. Most people are more social creatures so they ask their questions on this site. Some of the Chief veterans try hard to keep this site more aligned with being a useful and searchable reference, so asking one specific question per thread is useful (after you have searched the site to reduce the chance of duplicate threads) Once you get a handle on how you like to use Chief, maybe check out some of the people who have templates or macros for sale. There are many productivity tools that people have developed to make you faster and more efficient. I'm excited for you. Your adventure has begun!
DavidJPotter
Learn to first set all pertinent Default Settings for the project before you start creating it. Any short falls are mostly due to missed Default Settings or Dialog Box settings. Learn to be methodical and plodding making sure all loose ends are accounted for while creating the structure. Make yourself learn how to manually create/edit roof planes (this takes awhile). When you do not know, don't guess or trial and error, find the answer in your Reference Manual or myriad help videos at the Chief Website and on YouTube, take a look! Best of Success!!!! SHCanada2
2 hours ago, DavidJPotter said: Any short falls are mostly due to missed Default Settings I would suggest the critical ones are the floor heights, and floor structure depth. once you strat creating rooms and then realize they are off then...well then it takes awhile to make sure everything is correct, plus if you had altered any other elevation dimensions (like the second storey, or terrain, or foundation) they all need to be redone
