ACADuser
Working on a house where the entire roof of the main house is a roof terrace. Can you suggest a code approved location for the single 3" vent stack? I have looked at the code but nothing but a vent 7 feet tall above the roof deck works. And it can not be in the Daylight plane for the local restrictions.
JKEdmo
First gut reaction is you probably need to provide a vertical element to house the vent. I have worked on multifamily housing with roof decks and this was handled with a "chimney" to house these vents. But, perhaps others can chime in. Joe_Carrick
As Jim said, you just need something to house it. False Chimney Metal Sculpture Shade Structure Outdoor Kitchen Wind Screen etc. Use your imagination
JKEdmo
Ironically, I'm currently working on a similar project with a roof deck and I haven't given vents one thought until now. Thanks for bringing to my attention Alan. Jim
ACADuser
Yea this is a weird one. The max height is 30 feet above flood and a 7 foot vent stack would break that by 4 feet. Great suggestions though. I may have to do some roof area just for the vent.
JKEdmo
You might double check the zoning code to see if certain projections above height limit are allowable, eg. chimneys, antennae, etc. Just a thought. Here's an example from project I'm working on. Jim
