BruceKC
Is there a way to keep fhe stairs from flaring at the bottom when there is no wall present to butt up against?
Dermot
When you create a flared stair, you can edit the shape on each side independently. Maybe you are using a starter tread? Starter treads will automatically build on both sides unless the side is against a wall. If you have a situation where you don't have a wall but don't want the starter tread, you may be able to trick the program with a room divider or invisible wall. You could also create your starter tread using a landing which will allow you to create it pretty much any shape you want. If this does not help you solve your problem, then you may want to post a picture or plan.
VHampton
Quote you may be able to trick the program will a room divider or invisible wall This works every time. What is meant by this, is that the stair stringer on an L shape (which is open to a room) will sometimes become extra wide, for no apparent reason. Placing an invisible wall against the stringer can stop the width from increasing. ...and if the intent was to have a starter tread with a turn-out on one side only, the invisible wall method reins the unwanted "flare" on the straight section. That doesn't sound right. If you can create a plan with this situation, then you should report this to our tech support team.

Maybe because of a setting in the Stair Default ? I'm just guessing
