Calling all experts,

I am having a challenge to create a roof planes as per attached sketch which I had drawn in AutoCAD, and I dont know how to achieve that in Chief  Architect  X10. I tried many options which I could not get the end result. I am attaching the floor plan as well. I want the roof to overhang by 36 inch extend over the deck. Could someone help me out, as how to achieve the roof plane?

Thank you in advance

This is auto built. Does it look correct?

Thanks Eric. This is what I was exactly looking for. How did you do that with auto built. I tried without success. Any quick tips. In the meantime as suggested by Mick. I am going to try thru the knowledge base link.

What is the best way to master this software. I listen to all the video tutorial when problem arise. Once again thank you for your help.

Eric indicated that you look at the Roof tab Settings, Room Dialog box settings of the plan he edited for you. That IS how you get the resulting roofs thus autogenerated. The basic data is to be found in the Build Roof Dialog - Roof Styles tab. You learn to do roofs by one: learning the Wall Specification Box pre-settings made on the Structure Tab and Roof tab by study and practice. Manual Roof editing and creating is also a process of study followed by lots of practice failing and succeeding. It takes a while to gain real competence with those tools. Whether Auto Build followed by manual editing or just manually creating the roofs are based upon your understanding and competence.

Eric there is no reason to auto build. I don't mind how it is done. As I am a new user these are some of the challenges.

I normally Auto Build and let it get as close as it can then uncheck Autobuild and fix anything manually I need too , these two Videos may help you , learning the Roof Join Tool is imperative to Manual roof planes as it greatly enhances you speed....
