Drill Holes in Steel I-Beam

Recommended Posts

Greetings, From the Specialty/Other /Misc library I was able insert a steel I-Beam into my drawing. I can change the width, length and depth of the beam easy enough, but how do I insert drill holes in the steel beam when I'm in plan view.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Lou

You don't. You can use CAD to show the position of holes, and Circles to indicate the holes, but they will not be actual holes.

You could create your own symbol, placing holes as required, but it's rather tedious.

Build the I-beam using a polysolid and convert it to a Solid.

Cut the holes in it using a primitive cylinder and Solid Subtraction.

That should take about 2 minutes.
