Canuck
There was an article in the data base that explained how to import MS Excel into a plan . I have a table file I'd like to import so I dont' have to recreate a table/legend. How is this done in CA...the link to the CA article is broken ( https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00721/importing-an-excel-or-other-spreadsheet.html ). Anyone got a cheat sheet on how to do this...?
Canuck
It was my understanding that the spread could be imported as an intact file....or am I out to lunch on this?
Canuck
Thanks Eric. I was poorly informed.
GerryT
It imports as a rich text file with only the part you selected and copied in excel. highlight and select the applicable part of you excel file -- It helps if the first and last fields contain something as that defines the limits of the input. The SS part should be brought into a rich text box. The procedure is: Highlight and copy the desired SS part. Right click and select paste special. Select Rich Text. You can then open the rich text box and make any changes you want: including modifying fields or filling in empty fields. you can not change the number of rows/columns. You can also use macros in the fields.
Canuck
Thank you Gerry - Even limited ability is better than putting together tables each time I have to do energy calculations on build ups.
BenPalmer
simple spread sheets with simple formulas is a sorely needed feature. Import would be nice, but integrated is what we need. i do so many calculations and would be nice to have this info populated and accurate....wishing. Richard_Morrison
You can import Excel files as metafiles, too -- EMF or WMF -- but these are still not live spreadsheets. Maybe faster/more accurate than PDF's, though.
KirkClemons
That article used to just explain the steps for copy/paste from Excel to Chief. That information for that article was merged into KB-00173:https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00173/transferring-text-and-spreadsheet-information-into-chief-architect.html
