Twin Gable Roof

Recommended Posts

I need to create a twin gable roof like a capital M. These two gables then intersect the main roof at 90 degrees. Is there a simple way to do this? Sorry if this is easy but I am quite new to Chief.

That depends upon the geometry of your floor plan as to whether or not this can be preset and then auto-built. Manually you just do it manually by direct manipulation.

If you have images of an existing building, posting them -- or even a sketch, will help others help you.

Also a good idea to fill out your signature (see mine for an example) by clicking on your user name at the top right of the page, click Account Settings, then Signature on the left.

Something like this? Note how I broke the rear wall, and the settings in the short center section wall dialog under roof.

Thanks for the sig. One key piece of info is the version -- X8, X9 etc, as chief will not read plans built in a newer version.

I'd think about other Designs as I think looking at Eric's Pic,  in heavy rainfall you will end up with a Waterfall in front of that Window , onto the Patio below.

Either use a lower pitch like 25°  from each side ( not 45°) , or maybe even a 25° Hip Roof with a 45°pitch to match the current house on current gable wall

to reduce facade height or perhaps even a Shed Dormer style Roof at 15-18° tied into the existing Roof ?

I have a persistent problem with gaps in my porch ceilings in between the finished surface and the underside of the roof structure.  I know it has to be a setting i have wrong but i cannot figure it out! Current project is a barndominium with a gable porch.
      Thanks in advance

I think I have an issue with my "template" plan as I cannot get walls located above invisible walls to build correctly.  The wall in the attached plan is where the ceiling transitions from 12' tall to a room with a 9' tall ceiling.  I attempted the same drawing in a stock Chief template plan and everything worked like it's supposed to...so, I gather I have a setting in my template plan that is goofy...

      Thanks!

Hello - I need to finish a plan but can't seem to figure out my very last little issue. I need to add a small gable over this front porch. The roof is a high shed roof, gabled on the right side. Any ideas? I've tried changing the porch roof to a gable and nothing happens, I've tried a bunch of other little things and all it does is mess with the roof pitch of that area.
      Thanks in Advance - Keenan
