joey_martin
This issue has been around as long as I have used Chief. Not sure why it hasn't been addressed.
Archnot-Boltz
It's a heck of a Long Time Issue for a program that will occasionally, automatically build walls that I don't want. I've been scratching my head about this one for a long time. BB
Alaskan_Son
This particular issue was addressed in X10. We now get automatic foundation walls when we check Create Wall/Footing Below for porches (or similar exterior rooms) that are defined by railings and invisible walls. Draftsman-don
I found this thread after struggling with the same issue. There are lots of good suggestions and information here. I can concur with Alaskan_Son that this works in X10 but it didn't work for me in X9. Unless I'm still doing something wrong in X9 it is still a bug. X10 works beautifully though. dennmill
On 11/8/2017 at 12:06 PM, johnny said: The reason I believe this hasn't be an issue yet is its so rare to build full foundations under porches. I would add that in the Willamette Valley of western Oregon (Eugene, Roseburg, Salem, and upwards to Portland) although the frost line is only a few inches, they still very often put in a footer and stem wall when building a porch. Seems like this method is common enough in different parts of the country that CA (and Home Designer (Pro which I'm using) should be fixed/improved to incorporate some foundation options for porches instead of almost tying our hands.
