What's the right way to import 3d dwg file?

Import DWG option (File > import) is for 2d DWG, right?

 

What about 3d DWG, do I use "import 3d symbol"?  What about it's a room that I've already modeled in another program?  Do I still import it as 3d symbol?

I tried this method and whole model came in a symbol.  There's no "explode" tool in Chief Architect like AutoCAD, is that correct?

When I import an entire room from another program it is a group of individual objects (symbols). Sorry, you had to find out the hard way. But it as it is and only does what it is programmed to do.

This is the 3d dwg file after I imported into Chief Architect using "Import 3d symbol" option.  The whole was imported as a block, I can't explode or ungroup.  Is there a way I can "separate" them so that I can start inserting the window into the wall?

You are wanting to do something that can't be done.

That would take about 30 seconds to redraw in Chief - a lot less time than it has taken you to get to this point!

I agree.  This isn't something you can do in Chief; HOWEVER, I do think those 3D DWG files can be quite useful.  I could have been a little more efficient with some of this stuff but hopefully this at least gives you something to work with...
