Decorative exposed ceiling truss/beam

Good morning, 

 

I have a 2/12 pitch cathedral ceiling with a 3.5/12 pitch roof above. The client wants exposed ceiling truss/beams similar to picture attached. I have found the roof and ceiling beam option but don't see an option to pitch the ceiling beam or to change the pitch of the roof beam. I was thinking change the roof pitch to 2, build the beam and then change roof back to 3.5 but am wondering if there is an easier option?

I created my faux rafters on a 2.25:12 displayed only the elements I wanted to see in Perspective Overview, created a symbol, Redrew the roof planes @5:12, pasted the symbol into position.

Here's an option:

 

1. Temporarily change the roof pitch to the ceiling pitch. Place and position a Soffit, open the Soffit Specification dbx and check General>Options>Sloped Soffit and General>Options>Place Under Roof.

 

2. Return the roof to it's original pitch. Now you have a soffit that follows the ceiling pitch.

Instead of adjusting the roof  open the ceiling plane DBX copy the top and bottom ht. then open Soffit DBX and enter those numbers.

 

Use " Lower roof temp." method  to get a Roof beam to show at the lower ceiling slope

That's a better method - less chance of inadvertently messing up the model.

Another option is to create a symbol and insert it in the plan.

Can be made from P-line solids or moldings.

Would probably get you closer to the image in the picture.

 

Then it can be edited in this plan or stored for future use.
