EmmaCox
We have two separate computers with two separate Chief Architect X3 Licenses in our office. We are looking to upgrade to X8, but now there is no option to go from X3 or prior, you can only upgrade from X4 being the lowest version.. So my question is since we would now have to buy a new X8 License would we have to buy 2 separate X8 Licenses or is there some kind of a deal now were you can buy one license and use it on two computers at the same time? Would it only come with one hardware lock?
jbaehmer
CA does have an additional license discount they do. They would need to get you the pricing on it or you can find it on their website. I don't believe they have hardware locks for CA anymore. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/premier/

ChiefArchitect
Hello Emma, You are correct, we do not have the upgrade option from X3 to X8 available online, but if you call our Sales Department we would be more than happy to assist you with your upgrade. Our phone number is 208-292-3400. The software is still a single user license. This means it can be installed onto as many computers as you would like, but it can only be running on one computer at a time. If you would like to continue to have the software running on two computers, you would need to upgrade both licenses. Best Regards, Dani Chief Architect Sales

lbuttery
Emma: you would still need two hardware locks if you plan to run both PC's at the same time if you only want to run one PC at a time then you just move the hardware lock I prefer the hardware lock for many reasons Lew
EmmaCox
Yes, we are going to keep the two hardware locks and just upgrade the two programs. I love the hardware locks as well as it allows me to use the program at work and at home!
lbuttery
Emma: the X3 hardware locks will not work on X8 they only work for X3 you have to buy new locks and they cost $$$ Lew
