wncbw7 0 Posted December 29, 2016 I am doing several screen porches on a project and would like the full height post that abuts the wall to be a full size square post, not a half post. Is there a way to change this?
Chopsaw 661 Posted December 29, 2016 The easiest way to make that happen is to use an invisible wall around the interior of your porch. Sample test plan attached. X8 Railing Post test B.plan
javatom 131 Posted December 29, 2016 I usually place the posts manually so I can get them exactly where they need to be located. Invisible wall works great to define the area.

ChiefGrego 2 Posted December 31, 2016 Curious, why did you create this wall without the drywall

That is essentially my outdoor Railing wall which never needs drywall and does not need to display the extra layers also it is a little simpler to keep track of the width when modifying for offsets etc. Also can be used for interior where the drywall layer is causing display issues for instance a railing mounted on an exposed beam or stringer etc. Give it a try.
