Raytrace lighting question

Below are 2 pictures of the same view.  One is a standard view with shadows...and the other is the raytrace of this view.

I'm wondering how to get the same lighting effect in my raytrace that appears in the standard view.  The shadows are longer and brighter in the standard view.  Trust me...I have no real idea what I am doing when it comes to raytracing.  Right now I'm just experimenting to see how things work.  So...any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Under Lighting in Ray Trace Options what do you

have the Direct Sunlight Intensity set at? The first

thing I would try is boosting the intensity and see

what you get. Don't be afraid to try numbers like

6, 7 or 8. The scale goes all the way to 50 but I

must admit I haven't gone anywhere near that

number.

Rich - thanks for the tip.  I experimented...and I think I made a few improvements.  However, I think the issue is the screen material.  It is diffusing the sunlight.  I need to experiment with different screens...maybe something more translucent?

Since the light is coming from the right of the shot,

and since the screen in that side doesn't show in

the scene, you might want to just delete the screen

on that side and see what you get.

Besides the difference in intensity, which I would expect, the angles of cast appear different. Are you using any lighting other that the sun? If so then turn their shadows off. You can also place some 3D lights inside the room angled like the sun with shadows on to reinforce the suns shadow effect.
