Thanks. I'll figure something out. Never-the-less....... the framers in the field will just call me a knuckle head and do it their way.
-
Your detail is a bit different:
-
The term "Base Line" takes getting use to. I grew up framing houses where the bottom of the rafter was notched (Bird's Mouth) where it was teetering on the inside of the plate height.
-
If the eave (overhang) of a 12:12 roof is the same as the eave of a 8:12 roof then they have to be on different plate heights. The intersecting roofs the are 90° apart. The left to right pitch is 12:12. The front to back is 8:12. Therefore, the eave depth and the fascia height can not be the same.
-
The the Baseline outside of the stud wall where it seems to apply itself automatically. Of course the Fascia Heights are the same, but the roof eaves will also vary.
-
If you were drawing a hip roof that had a combination of two different roof pitches, such as 12:12 on the left to right slopes and 8:12 on the front to back slopes, shouldn't the Base Line Heights be the same?

Looking for somebody in Washington State

Thanks Sageland (what's you first name or full name?) I just forwarded your information to the client. I hope it works out. Jerry K. -
I have a client who really needs somebody local to him to draw his plans. Kennewick and Zip code 99336 is his location. Too involved for me to do him proper good being long distance and I am six weeks out. Contact me.

Eric, That looks like what I need. I will work on your list of things to make it work. Thanks, JK

Curt, The issue has been the inability for CA to produce the line that indicates a Brick Ledge on the Plan View. In 3D camera view we can see the Brick Ledge. However, in Plan View (where it really counts) there is no Brick Ledge. I have to do a little juggling to get a line representing a Brick Ledge but as the line goes around the Garage and Garage Door aprons, it is a little difficult. There are a few other issues I haven't be able to work out, yet. So, I just find it a lot easier to export the Floor Plan into AutoCAD, draw my Slab Foundation, then Import that DWG into CA. Footings have nothing to do with the issue I have been having. Attached is an example of what I needed to do. I'll get it figured out how to do it in CA. Thank you for the reply. Thanks Jeff. I will try that. I finally just exported the Floor Plan to DWG > 2D AutoCAD > Then drew my foundation the way I needed. I did that in a fraction of the time it was taking me to wrestle with Chief trying to get things to work the way I wanted. Time was short and customer is waiting. I do hope Chief gets the Southern Way of drawing Slab Foundations working. Not everybody builds a Crawl Space or Basement Foundation. Either that or I'm just a complete idiot and the answer is right there before me. Jerry K.

I can huh? I will try that. I think I got things going in Detail. It's time consuming but working. Thanks, JK

Yes, I want to edit the actual slab drawing. For instance, I don't like the way CA shows the drop between the house to garage. That's not how it is to be built. I figure if I can manipulate the actual CAD lines of the slab then I can easily achieve what I want.
-
Edit it manually.
-
Is there a way I can explode an automatically drawn slab foundation plan so I can edit it manually in CAD?
-
This question falls back on the appraiser. And the answer is a BIG yes indeed. First there is foundation below and roof above, so why shouldn't it be counted. If the Chase is adjacent to the Garage but surrounded on 2 or 3 sides by living area, I might include it in the Garage Area. Especially if I'm fighting tooth and nail to keep the area a specific size. All this being said, I do not use the Room Definitions to total my areas. I create a 3D Slab and stretch and shape it to cover the area I want then query it's coverage. That's how I calculate my square footage.

Just take a Viking and color the knobs red.

Is there a maximum in size when doing a rendering? And a Panorama Rendering?
-
Thanks Kirk. I will share this with my Web Expert and see what she recommend that we do. I think doing these Panos are a game changer in presenting a look inside a proposed home. So many of my visitors are wanting to see an actual home built which is not an option.

I've read this entire thread. Lots of good information. Here is what I want to do. I have a website where I sell my home designs/house plans. I have static images of my plans both CA Renderings and Actual Photographs. I do want to add the code so my website visitors can see the panos right on my site from my server and not have to redirect to another URL. Any suggestions? Face Book quickly recognizes my panoramas but compresses them so they look terribly fuzzy which I find as unacceptable.

I am going to see if Houzz does the same thing.

You can upload your pano to Face Book and FB identifies the Meta Data as a pano and installs it's own viewer. Here is one I was just experimenting with. "Work In Progress".

Is there a way to control the amount of compression Chief gives to a JPEG? There seems to be a lot of JPEG pixelation around the edges of objects. I don't compress an image until I am ready to upload it on a webpage.

I used it for a little while today and seems to work seamlessly.
