I can't simply tun off the point markers?

How can I turn off these dimension marks? JK

As a true Texan, you should consider the Dell. (Michael Dell lives in Austin and HQ is there employing Texans) The graphics card, as I understand it, speeds up the drawing of a 3D image and you can rotate it and walk through the model without the computer displaying a moving 3D image in a jerky motion. The Photo-Rendering is done in the i7 Processor, not the graphics card. RAM is cheap these days. It's easier to upgrade the RAM than upgrade a mobile graphics card. Please deposit 2¢ JK

Thanks. I thought of that. That's what I use in Brand X CAD Program.

Go to Tools>Toolbars & Hotkeys>Customize Hotkeys - There you can add Hot Keys for tool bar buttons. Tools>Toolbars & Hotkeys>Create Hotkey List saves an HTML File to the location of your choosing then open that file and print out your current list of Hot Keys.

I do have another issue. I have a ceiling fan with a light. I need to wire a switch to the fan motor and another switch to the light fixture. When I have two switches and I try and wire the 2 separate, my switches turn into 3 way switches. How can I have two 2 way switches going to this one ceiling fan with a light?

Never mind. I found the answer.

What would be a good thing is, when doing electrical plans, having a few of the more common electrical functions tied to single stroke hot keys. Is that available? It sure would speed a few things up. JK

Rashid & Brian. Thanks for the suggestions. I always preferred 12" spacing on my dim lines. To each their own. I am experimenting with the reach setting. JK

Whew! At least I'm in the positive category!

Thanks Michael. It also helps to know how to accentuate an image in Photo Shop. de Jerry

Hi William, Could you be a bit more specific please. What I'm doing in Chief doesn't quite work that way. I think. JK

I'm working on it. I'll keep you posted. My Dallas Cowboys are playing the Lions so I'm a little distracted tonight. JK

Hey! For what it's worth, I do very very well in designing complicated roof plans. JK

Thanks Mister Chopsaw. I think I need encouragement just as much as instruction. I have hope because I see all the wonderful work others are doing. I remember way back in about 1990 when I made the switch from the old drafting table to CAD and how frustrating it was. If I didn't love this business so much. Here is the night time rendering of the plan I've been working on. I've been using CA as a rendering tool for the past several years. It's high time to start doing my construction drawings with this software too. From warm and sunny Texas where it hit 75 degrees today. T'was the night before Christmas and all through the house, The Air Conditioning was running cause we live in the south. de Jerry

Been there and done that. I was just wondering if there is a DBX somewhere I haven't found that can control the "Third Click" or give me the option of a third click to locate the dimension line pretty much like other software does. I've watch so many videos I think I'm going crossed eyed. JK

I'm gonna go ahead and ask this..... I am so use to the way that other CAD software dimensions and I am bound and determined to work out my learning curve with Chief. I am use to clicking three points for a dimension. Click once to located the first extension line, click a second time to locate the next extension line, then the third click to place the location of the actual dimension line. Then I can do a continuous line by clicking additional spots for more dimensions along that same string. What Chief has me doing is click once for the first extension line then the second click locates both the next extension line and then places the dimension line at that same location. Then I have to carefully grab the dimension line and slide it out to where I would have otherwise wanted it. I tried the "Automatic" dimensions only it dimensions every nook and cranny on my plan and I spend much time editing those. That's CRAZY! Is there something I can do differently to expedite my dimensioning? I'm spending about three times the amount of time dimensioning a plan compared to brand X CAD software. I would love it if there is a button I can check so to do three point dimensions like I have been doing for the past twenty five years. I should of had this plan dimensioned hours ago. Thanks, JK

Thank you for what you did to show me. I bookmarked that vid and will get back to it. JK

Dang! So much to learn! I'm getting there!

Thanks for the symbol. Nice 3D block of an actual Jamb Switch. Is there a trick on getting the symbol to appear as a "S" in the Electrical Plan View? JK
-
Thanks so much! I will check that out! JK
-
Tnx. Dave. I'm not concerned abt the 3D view of a jamb switch because the door will be closed in 3D view. We use jamb switches in almost all Pantry Doors. Just like when the refrigerator door controls the interior light, so does the jamb switch in a food pantry. I would eventually like it to be counted in a materials/electrical schedule. JK
-
OK, I took the generic switch in the lib and inserted it and rotated it. I got it. JK
-
Next Question, Is there a way to show a jamb switch? How do you show a jamb switch? A switch symbol on the inside hinge side of a door opening that turns on the light when the door opens. I searched the library and nothing appeared with the search word "switch". All sorts of switches appeared but no Jamb Switch. Tnx de JK

Tnx guys. I was hoping maybe I could "Break" the wall like a polyline (#3) and move it out and curve it. This is a change the client wants and I haven't got back on it yet. JK
