  1. That worked. I have only used the color button in elevation view when printing the plans. I never used it for plan views before, never had a reason. I must have turned it off accidentally. Thanks, Mike
  2. Sorry about not sending this sooner. I had to jack hammer some footings supporting my wrought iron fence. Tree roots are growing under the footings and pushing up the fence. Got the fence level and the intrusive root out. I just need to re-pour the footings. Here is the plan I was talking about. I can change the colors in the architectural plan set but I can not change them in the framing plan set. Thanks, Mike Houck As-Built.plan
  3. I tried both CAD lines and wall, doors and windows. In the framing set I can not change any of the colors. In the architectural set I can changes colors. Where do I toggle on colors ?
  4. I am having a problem changing line colors in the framing plan view. I can change the colors in the architectural plan view but not the framing plan view. I was trying to change the color of an existing line in the framing plan by going through the DBX to change the color of this one line. Nothing changed in the plan. I then tried changing the layers color in the layer display and again it did not change. I then changed the layer color from black to red in the layer display then drew a new line and it still show as a black line. The layer is not locked. Does anyone know why I am not being able to change the line color in the framing plan view? Thanks, Mike
  5. I am inputting as-built house plans for a new project. This house has both a raised foundation and a slab foundation. I know how to generate the foundation if it is either a raised or slab foundation. I do not know how generate the foundation plan if it has both raised and slab foundation. What is the correct way to do this ? Thanks, Mike
  6. I drew a guest house then placed the terrain perimeter. In the DBX it shows the grade is 8" below the finish floor of the guest house. Where do I go to change the grade elevation of the terrain perimeter as 0" ?
  7. I am working on a project with a flat lot. The rear part of the lot drops straight down -14" . I am trying to draw this using terrain perimeter and the elevation region to show the 14" drop. When I select the elevation region and input in the elevation as -14" the terrain perimeter also move down -14" along with the elevation region. I have tried this a number of way with the same results. I have no idea what I am doing wrong.
  8. Thanks. I see that the standard 110 outlet was showing as a GFCI outlet. I made the change and it now works correctly. I am still not getting the correct outlets placed in the garage and laundry room when using the automatic placement feature. I California GFCI outlets are also required in garages and laundry rooms. The automatic placement feature places standard outlets in those 2 rooms. Is there a way to change this so it places GFCI outlets Thanks, Mike
  9. I was using the automatic placement of electrical outlets in an addition project. CA 12 is placing GFCI outlets in all room types, bedrooms, bathrooms, family rooms, etc. Is there a way I can change this automatic feature to place GFCI outlets in only bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms and garages ? Thanks, Mike
  10. Thank you Chapsaw. That worked. Mike
  11. I download the residential template from the list. I see the default saved plan views. How do I get those save plan views in my existing template file ? Thanks, Mike
  12. I down loaded the residential template and see the saved plan views. How do I get those plan views into my existing template file ? Thanks, Mike
  13. No. I see the folder, but nothing is in the folder/
  14. I was watching a CA video on Saved Plan Views. In the Video he said that CA was shipped with 12 default plan views. I'm looking in the plan view folder under the project browser and there is no default plan views. Is there another location where these default plan views might be saved ? If so, how do I get them into the plan view folder under the project browser ? Thanks, Mike
  15. Can we modify the shape of the layout window sent to the layout page ? The surveyor sent me his plans for a house I am designing. I needed to rotate the layout window in order to fit on my plans at a 1"=20' scale. The surveyor has a lot of stuff on his plans that I do not need to show. In order to to this I would need to reshape the rectangular shape of the layout window in order crop out this unneeded information. Thanks, Mike
  16. Thank you Joey. That works and saved me a lot of time.
  17. Hi Ridge_Runner, What do you mean when you refer to a warehouse plan ? How do you create a warehouse plan ? Thanks, Mike
  18. Thank you Joey for the annotation and layer set for the details. I some what new to this. How do I get them into my system ? I never done this before. Thank You, Mike
  19. In the video I watched they said nothing about setting defaults for detail. It makes since. So I create a layer set for the details. Do I need to create a layer set for each detail scale that I will be using ? Thanks, Mike
  20. I am drawing a number of details my engineer sent over. On prior projects I would draw them in AutoCAD then bring them into CA. I want to start using CA cad detail management. I watch one of CA video's on drawing details. It said that details are drawn in real scale. Then send to the layout page in at the desired scale. I started to add the text to the detail I just drew and the text is to large. Also the arrow is way to large. In the video he added 6" high text and a leader with an arrow and it looked to be the right size. I way using 4.5" high text and it looked much larger than the 6" high text in the video. I must be missing something. How do I get the text and arrow sizes to show correctly using the cad detail management tool ? I will be sending the details to the layout page at 3/4"=1'-0". Thank You, Mike
  21. I recently replaced my HP Designsjet 750c plus plotter with an HP Designjet T525 36" wide. I was printing a job today and ran out of 36" wide rolls of paper. I have some 24" wide rolls that I loaded up. I need the layout plan to be rotated 90 degrees in order to print on the 24" wide roll of paper. I went into the print dialog and selected portrait for the rotation. The drawing does not rotate. It splits the drawing in half and places half of the drawing above the over half. I also printed as a pdf file and tried rotating the pdf to print the plan. I still could not get the plan to rotated 90 degrees for printing. Does anyone know how I can get the layout plan to rotate 90 degrees so I can print the 36"x24" plan on a 24" wide roll of paper ? Is this an issue with Chief or is it an issue with HP ? Thanks, Mike
  22. A few months ago I bought a new Dell computer. I'm using the same monitor since it fairly new. I upgraded to CA 12 at the same time I bought the new computer. I have CA 11 on the new computer as well. When I view the note sheets in CA 11 everything looks fine. It only messed up when I view in CA 12. I have corrected some of the text by double clicking on the text, one line at a time, This for some reason this corrects the text size. Thanks, Mike
  23. I already had, one line at a time changed the notes you revised. I tried it on one of the other notes. It worked on half of the text . The text is now not on top of each other. Half of the text is about twice as big as the correct text size. I have the first 6 lines of text to big. The next line is correct. Next line to big, Next line correct. Next 5 lines to big. Next 8 lines are correct. I have no idea why it would correct some text and leave the other lines twice as big. It must be the mystery of Chief. At least half was corrected Which leaves me less work to correct the other half. Thanks, Mike
  24. I never used the match properties before. How do I use this to change the text ? Thanks, Mike
