  1. Chopsaw if I undestand your question, Mick put the line on CAD,Plot PLAN layer which automatically gave it the right size text. I then went to the defaults for CAD default and changed the format to ' instead of ' and " and made sure there were just 2 decimal points.
  2. it was imported geometry from AutoCAD so it had the name that was assigned to the layer in autocad. Changed it to layer you suggested and POOF it works. just had to go to the default settings for CAD defaults and change them to decimal dimensions. Thanks!!!
  3. Mick to the rescue once again!!! How can I change the number style on this. Mine is in feet and inches instead of decimal feet and the number is too small. Thanks!!
  4. Is there a way to turn off arrows and extension lines on a dimension style? For example lot line dimensions where arrows aren't needed but I want them when measuring from the corners of the house to the lot line, so I would make a secondary version for this situation. Thanks!!!
  5. Window returns, I think that is the term I am looking for..... has anyone figured out a way I can have the window returns show at an angle (in plan view) as shown on my clients sketch?
  6. Thanks for the quick response. This almost shows the way I want it to look from camera view, except it has thick sills that are as deep as wall. On plan view it doesn't show the angled window sides. Is there some way to modify it so that it shows correctly on the plan view as well?
  7. It was the active defaults. Thanks!
  8. Fair warning I don't know the proper name for what I am trying to talk about, if you could enlighten me that would be great. Anyways, the house plan I am trying to help out with is to have really think concrete walls with windows that have deep sills and angled wall edges. I have attached a picture of the sketch. Is this something that can be accomplished in CA. I am using x10. Thank you!!!
  9. I do have it, just never knew what that icon was for. Thanks!
  10. I don't have the active layer set on my toolbars for some reason. I used this method to change window door cabinet label font size.
  11. I sent a floor plan view to my layout sheet but really need to have the reference layer showing for the floor above it. I know I can always resend it with the reference layer turned on with a little bit of hassle placing it with existing notes so everything lines up right. I was wondering if there is a way to turn it on on the layout sheet that would be easier. Is there a layer for it in the layer dialog? Thanks!
  12. I see what the problem seems to be. The doors individually have the Use Interior Casing unchecked in the dialogs. I have this checked in the default. I guess there isn't a way to make this update automatically???
  13. yes I have made the changes on the default, but nothing changed on the plan, afterwards. It changes new windows or doors added, but not the existing ones.
  14. I want to change the width of door and window casings in my plan. Is there a way to go to the window and door default dialogs and change it there and then somehow have the plan incorporate these default changes? Thanks!!!!
  15. Wow! Nice setup. Thanks for sharing with me.
  16. Any special setting for making the stairs have a solid wall at the top on one side of the stairs and railing on the other side? Last time I came across this I just drew a polyline solid and matched the material to the wall. Thanks!!
  17. Good to know info on backup services, thanks! Definitely want to look into Backblaze.
  18. Thanks for the insight, Mark, Johnny and Mick. Lots to look at to make a good decision. Are all the laptops mentioned Windows based? I use Windows Word and Excel quite a bit.
  19. I work with AutoCAD as well and want a pretty robust system. Will look into the ones you mentioned. Also need to learn about the monitor types you mentioned. Are all these available in matte options? Thanks!
  20. Getting close to that time of the year to start looking at investing in my business. This year I want to get a second laptop. A lady that also uses CA mentioned she has the Laptop P Series P70 with a matte screen. I think this would be good for working without seeing myself in the reflection and for working in an outdoor environment with bright sunlight. I am also looking at getting a wireless external hard drive that my two laptops could access files from and write to and have this external hard drive backed up onto my server, which is mirrored, as well as to an online backup service. Right now I'm using OneDrive for my online backup. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations on the changes I have in mind?
  21. Thanks! I guess I was wondering if there is a way to get a reflected ceiling view. Maybe I have a camera placed on the floor and point it straight up at the ceiling? Not at my computer to try this, so I am just thinking out-loud.
  22. I have a client that would like to have the details of the coffered tray ceiling to give to his framer. Is there a way that I can take a camera image of this? any other ideas on how I can get him what he needs. Thank you!
  23. Thanks for finding this for me, Eric. So simple, but I was missing it.
