  1. So using a portrait landscape sheet, to keep from having to rotate a plan view wont work here then?  I created this  "new" border, thinking it would be to drop and go.  This house is deeper than its width, that's why I was thinking portrait.  I know I could still keep this, but then when it is plotted, all those so called "vert" dimensions would upside down (if the title block is to the right).

Just going to make landscape work.

    Thanks for the responses.

  2. Learned that lesson before, and it wasn't good.  This plan is designed exactly the direction I put on the layout sheet.  No rotating the plan or sheet.  Vertical manual dimensions come in with text up-down direction as shown.  How do I get those text to be in hor. direction also?

  3. I have looked all over, played with default settings, to no avail.  Where can I adjust the orientation of a dimension text?  I designed this house in its true direction (north-south).  Horizontal dims, no problem.  Vertical dims however are going to be upside down on a layout sheet when plotted and read.  Where can I change this direction.  Or is the only fix, doing this as a landscape layout and rotating view where in this case North would be to the right?

  4. Wall intersection tool didn't work either.  Did you try it, and if so, did it work for you?  I got two fix around ideas and trying those.  The show must go on, right?

Hey Chief Architect, when you get in on Tuesday.  Is this something you can get fixed on next release.  This program is so smart, you would think a simple wall intersection wouldn't need "work arounds".

    Thanks

  5. That's exactly how I am getting around this Scott, by creating a thin solid, matching material properties, and then putting in its place.  Thought there was another way to correct this the right way, instead of using duct tape, per say.

Chiefer, I did try another wall and move into place, same result.  Did that before I posted my question.  If you look at the plan, it looks like the rail wall, penetrates the main, whereas it should stop at face.  I changed the main to a pony, with block on the bottom portion (inside raised bed, like it would be built), and the height being the same as rail wall.  Still no fix.

Wondering why I can't open the model I attached before?  Says its locked.  So when you guys open an attached model, is it via my PC, vs an attachment you download or open on your own??

    Thanks gents!

  6. Hey CA community,

Got a little issue where a rail wall intersects a main wall.  The exterior material gets removed above the rail wall, on the main wall.  This has happened many places now on the design I am working and I was able to duplicate the issue on this example model.  Any ideas, is it a settings thing???  This is a raised planter bed, and focal point of my clients back yard.

    Thanks,

  7. Ok.  On the same topic.  My client bought CA to design his own house and got way to deep into before he ended up hiring me to clean, fix and finalize his model.  His default ceiling height (first floor) is 10' (121.125").  In his family room it steps down 16", giving a ceiling height of 137.125".  He wants to lower this ceiling 12" now so he can tray it.  With a room above this room, and a room below, HOW!  When I change "E" or "F", Floor Above "A" moves, even with default checked (becomes unchecked once you modify any height)

I would like to post the model, but I cannot do without his permission.  Any ideas on how to this from all you experts?

  8. Doing a Kitchen & Bath set, 1/2" scale.  In this set I have a Wall Elevation camera that is showig up on all other sets of that same view (Floor plan, framing plan, etc...)  How do I turn this off where it shows only on the set I want?  I created a new layer and put this camera on, to no avail.

  9. Awww..  it did it just as I hit send on the comment above.  And guess what, the two that were converted to blocks did not...

The only issue I have is now that the schedules are blocks, they do not update, unless you explode.  Come on CA..  figure this one out please.  Already a lot to do to get a drawing ready, I can see this being a missed step.. exploding a schedule.

  10. I know exactly what you mean AB, because for some reason its doing to me.  Never before, but this project it is.  Every once in a while when  I switch layer sets, all the schedules grow.  After stretching the top three schedules back to original shape (again) I thought I'd look on here for a resolve.

This isn't happening in the layout side, its on the plan side.  My schedules are sent to layout on their own, to scale, so text is correct size.

I did change two of them to CAD blocks (as suggested) for a test.  If two happened to do this again the others don't, we will know the fix.

  11. LOL...  No Perry, not a urinal, but it could be used for one if they had toga parties.  This happens to be an old porcelain wash basin (5 ft. long) that they had in another building that was tore down and they want to reuse it.

Scott, Sherry and Jerry.  Thank you for the great suggestions.  When I read your replies this AM, I had one of those "duh" moments.  I guess brain wasn't thinking very clear last night.

    Thanks again everyone..

  12. I have client who wants me to design a break room "pod" inside an existing manufacturing building.  The main building has 20' ceilings and the new break room has 10' ceiling, but the top of frame will be at 14'.  But when I enclose the main building ceiling, the break room walls expand to the main building ceiling.  I have turned off ceilings and roofs and tried to do manually??  Any ideas?

  13. CA's solution until corrected:

In the meantime, I would recommend using a custom backsplash on the walls that the paint is overlapping the edge. Add a custom backsplash in 3d view by going to Build> Cabinet> Custom Cabinet. Click on the wall and then adjust if needed to the edges of the wall. Next, open the Custom Backsplash Specification and set the Material Layer to 1/16". You can then change the material to you blue color. This should cut around the doors and cut correctly at the edges of the wall.

  14. This is CA Tech Supports message to me today.  I made sure it wasn't operator error when I sent my case.

"Nope, not operator error. We could reproduce (the same issue) on a completely new plan, set up with similar conditions. The developers will be taking a look at this issue and prioritizing when it would be in an update of the program. I can't guarantee exactly which update that will be at this point. However, if they need any additional information I will be sure and reach out.

Thanks again for letting us know of the problem!"

  15. Just a follow up.  I sent pictures to tech support and now they have my model to see why my end of walsl weren't painted. Actually, I noticed in other places as well.  The first pict. I attached is the same wall as my original comment, but now both ends are messing up.  The other picture is an exterior wall, on the first floor..  don't know what's going on.  But will keep all informed on what I find out.

  16. Finally got back on this tonight.  Yes, I have tried the multiple camera views and nothing works unless I delete the railing.  I also deleted wall and re-drew.  That was fun, just to tell you. :-)  For some reason all of my moldings (base and crown molding got flipped to the exterior walls, but the walls did not flip...go figure.  I am leaving this as is for right now.  Its just paint, right.  When I do ray traces, I will get around it.  Need to get this one wrapped up.  Dennis, I made a mental & sticky note to come back to this when design is complete.  If I can't resolve (just to know why it did this for future) I will send plan your way to play with.  I was just hoping it was a quick fix is why I asked the question last night.  Thanks gentlemen.

  17. Right at this railing, the color of the blue wall does not extend to the end.  However, when I delete the railing it does.  Obviously I need the railing, so how do I fix this?  I've painted the wall in camera view, in perspective view, and thru wall specification to no avail.  I've also attached the plan view showing the intersection.
