I just imported the updated ones to X15 and it gives me the #Evaluation Error#...any idea what the fix is? TIA

Chief changed some NVPs for X15.  The macros would need to be revised to use the new names of the NVPs.

I had to rewrite a lot of macros for X15.  Anything I had done for prior versions I can't support.

Ok I get it, but that is the same logic that presumably CA programmers used in thinking we would not need base NVP's, which leaves a lack of flexibility when you want that information displayed in the label. ;)

It really depends on the object.  An irregular polygon can't be assumed to have a width or length.  So in that case their logic makes sense.  There are a lot of objects in Chief that don't have certain NVPs due to their nature.  That doesn't mean the programmers don't make logic mistakes - but in most cases I would agree with them.

Do you have a secret you are not sharing Joe ?   If you really need to you can get the height if you have the area and volume, but how do you propose getting the rest of the dimensions assuming they are not the same ?  The OP needs area, volume and three dimensions.

Well, %thickness% works for the vertical.

For Plan Dimensions I would just use manual dimensions either with or without dimension lines, extensions & arrows.

  4. There's really no way to make posts a part of the room definition.  You could use invisible walls to define the rooms and then use regular interior walls between the posts (no room definition) but you would have to create them offset and then move them into place after specifying them as "No Room Definition".

It could be a bit tricky.

I have had sporadic slowness with the 25.2.0.53 release, slows to a crawl for no apparent reason. But only once in a great while, and reboot (or lockup) returns to normal fast speed. I've also been having trouble with random lockups when working with a split window and standard render open, never happened before even with earlier CX15 releases.

May be a Mac problem depending on what 3D views you are using.

  6. When loading X15 it takes a lot more time loading the Manufacturers Catalogs.  IMO, it should just load the index to each of these Catalogs and only load the full catalog when it's to be expanded.  Of course, if there's already a setting for that .................

  7. From a structural standpoint it will depend on blocking and shreathing to mitigate the potential buckling as well as the compressive stresses.  It's unlikely that the compressive stress is going to be a problem even for 2x6's but buckling in either or both axis may be a problem.

Assuming these walls are balloon framed :

    • unblocked & sheathed only one side --- use 3x8's @16" o.c
    • unblocked & sheathed both sides --- use 2x8s @ 16" o.c.
    • blocked at mid height & sheathed both sides --- use 2x6s @ 16" o.c.

If Platform framed (2x6 plates & box floor joists) at 2nd floor line:

    • 2x6's at 16" o.c are sufficient.

I ran this thru my structural program for the above.

Note that it might be very difficult to obtain any of these sizes in 24 ft lengths, not to mention the difficult of raising a wall of that height.  I would platform frame for those reasons.
