  1. Can you be more specific??

If I understand correctly, among other things...

    1.  Open the garage room dbx on the 1st floor and on the structure tab uncheck "floor supplied by the foundation room below"

    2.  Open the garage area room dbx on the foundation level and on the structure tab uncheck "roof over this room" and "floor under this room".  Also, change the "ceiling finish", "floor finish", and "floor structure" dimensions to zero.

There are probably other things you'll need to mess with, but with the limited information I have, that's what I can offer.

  2. Michael,

I believe the setting that controls this is Auto Rebuild Walls/Floors/Ceilings.

I'm a little hesitant to say this because I know you're such a highly respected Chieh Architect genius, however...

I think you might be wrong.  Rebuild walls/floors/ceilings if checked might cause the gutter to rebuild, however the gutter will rebuild even if the box is unchecked if "auto rebuild roofs" is not also unchecked (both must be unchecked).

  3. The floor of the attached garage on my house slopes slightly away toward the driveway (roughly, 10 inches over 20 feet)...

That does not sound like it would qualify as "slopes slightly" to me.  That would be the single most extreme garage slab slope I have ever seen.  Did you perhaps type those number incorrectly??

  4. Mike, do you want to explain why he must call it a garage? Hey Mike, can't you see Russia from Wasilla?

Using the garage room type automatically sets the structure settings close to what the OP was after.

And no, we can't see Russia from Wasilla :  ), although there ARE a lot of Russian people here.  We can however see Russia from one of the islands on the Aleutian chain.  There are 2 islands that are only about 2-1/2 miles apart.

Edit:  Sorry,  I guess I didn't look closely enough at the picture in the original post.  I didn't realize the slab was on top of the foundation.  You may not want to use the garage room type like I said afterall.  You can, but it will require just as much structure modification as any other room type (maybe more)...

  5. Anthony, to expand on what Bill said...

After placing the break points near to where they should be, select a roof plane you would like to join to another, then select the edge you would like to join to another edge.  Click the "join roof planes" tool.  Now select the edge of the other roof plane you would like to join.  The other roof plane will highlight, but its very important you select the correct edge.

  6. Has the slow dragging feature been changed or eliminated in X6? Used to be able to hit the shift key when dragging to slow things down.

I never liked that tool.  What I find to work way better once I learned about it was...

Hitting tab while dragging and then entering the distance and angle.

  7. I replaced the symbol in my post above...Not sure why, but the symbol seemed to be corrupted.  It worked fine yesterday, but when I opened the program back up today, the materials on that door went totally wacky.  The door in the library went black and seemed to have none of the panels or framework. And the material tab had the right material NAMES, but the textures and patterns were all wrong.  To make matters worse, when I selected another library object and then went back to the door again, the patterns and textures had changed again and the door was 2 different materials (I think aluminum and oak) and then the door changed to all oak.  Extremely bizarre.  Has anyone else seen anything like that happen before??

If you could let me know how the attached symbol behaves for you I would appreciate it.  I think I fixed it but I'm not sure.  The door should by Cherry with the grain on each individual panel going in the direction it would be in real life.

    Like the attached screenshot...

  8. I'm looking for a particular door design.  Wondering if perhaps any of you have one or can tell me where to find it.  I've searched all the Chief libraries and can't seem to find anything.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, this is the best picture I have...
