Hmm....thanks Joey.......I was afraid that was going to be the answer. We deliver all of our plans (except to the engineer) in pdf format. I know using adobe I can mirror everything beautifully, but that won't give me the reversed plans to send to the engineers. I wish this was an easier process, but honestly, coming from 30+ years in Autocad Architecture, Chief is light-years ahead of them, and the support is the best I've ever seen. So I'll jump in and no complaints. Thanks again Joey.

I understand how to reverse a plan, but once the plan is finished and in layout, how do I reverse the whole plan without having to re-work all the elevations and their line work? I send elevation views to layout using plot lines, and then alter some of the line work to get the look I want. But I'm not sure if it's possible to reverse everything including the modified elevations that are in layout? If not, what a pain that's going to be. Any thoughts?

OK, so on the door schedules, even though I had "group similar" checked, I also had "Room names" in the schedule, and without thinking, it can't group similar doors if they're in different rooms... hope that helps someone.

Robert, I used the "ex/in" and type and that will work for me. Style still delineates the "style of the door from the library", which I don't see how that would be relevant unless it were a custom homeowner's project. You've been a great help, thanks again!

From what I can tell looking those things up in the library, they are specific door styles from the Chief Library. Hmmm. Thanks everyone.

Thanks for your input, I zipped the plan and attached it, as well as a pdf of the schedules themselves. The window schedules work fine, but the doors have me completely baffled.

Does anyone know why my door schedules have odd descriptions, such as Hinged-Door P02, or Garage-Door p12? Talked to support and although they were great as always, they weren't sure why the default macros are giving me those strange descriptions. One garage door shows "Garage-Door P12), the other says "Garage-Design 2 - Rec 14. Totally puzzled.

I don't know what the xor option is, but turning it off solved the problem. Thanks, now I need to look up what the xor means. Thanks everyone.

Hmm....just realized that it's a pony wall above, but still not sure why that would not allow it to display.

I just checked and all walls are on drawing group "defalut 27-wall", and all the other walls show, just not this one.

Quite often when I'm looking at a plan, and have the reference display on, most of the referenced walls above or below show up in red as they should, but some are just simply not there at all. I have no clue why this is happening.

Thanks everyone. David, the house in the picture is a 2D view I'm sure, with a simulated 3D terrain. It may not be possible to get what the builder want without spending an enormous amount of time and effort. They don't want any perspective on the house at all. What they really want is an elevation view with the "dummied in" terrrain and trees.

Is there a way to do a watercolor like the one inserted? It is basically an "elevation" view (no perspective), with terrain and drive shown etc. 3D views don't work I don't think.

Mark, I got it to work except the hatch pattern in the center isn't displaying and I've tried everything I can think of to make it show, I've brought parts to the front, and the other parts sent to the back, but it doesn't help. Any idea what I've done wrong. Enclosed a picture showing what I ended up with (on the left) and what the edited cad block shows before it's saved and what I want it to look like. COLUMNS.pdf

Using the Chief library columns, is there a way to define the plan view with a fill pattern? Don's see a way other than creating a 2D box with a till pattern and placing it over the top.

Hi all, thanks for you help. One of my clients insists on using a specific engineer and they only accept dwg files. Much of my information is on the layout sheets and not on the actual plans themselves, hence I need to export the layout sheet into a dwg. However, when I'm doing that, when I open the dwg file in autocad, the original layout sheet which is 24"x24", the dwg file is about the size of a postage stamp. I talked to support and they didn't know why that would happen, so here I am again, sorry. I've looked at youtube, training videos etc., and I can't find an answer.

Michael, I realize that I can only do one page at a time, and I'm ok with that. On my layout sheets, I have my company logo, and on the first page I have the 3D view of the front of the house (currently in .png format). The company logo is also a .png file and the other "picture" is a pdf. None of those are being exported. Thanks for your help.

Actually yes. When I export the layout file to dwg, not all of the information is exported.

I've looked everywhere and don't see a reliable way to export my layout files to a dwg format. Exporting plan files is not too difficult, but if we're sending these to an engineer, much of the information is on the layout sets and would be lost. Is there a way to do this that I can't find?
