  1. Hey everyone, thanks so much for your help. I didn't use create stairwell, I defined it with walls and labeled the inner space as "Open Below", so maybe I should investigate the create stairwell next time? Sorry for all my questions, we're just trying to migrate from Autocad Architecture to X12. We originally bought X12 just to use it to create 3D renderings of the front elevation, but once we started looking at the program, we were kind of "blown away" with all the improvements (We had X1). So now, we're trying to learn as much as we can as quickly as we can. We're also amazed at Chief support, and even moreso with the users like all of you who have jumped in to help. It's been an amazing start for us thanks to all of you.
  2. Hi Solver, if I do that, the wall is actually still there, so it just blanks out an area anyway.
  3. Thanks! I'll give that a shot, I really appreciate it!
  4. Hi Javatom, unless I'm not understanding what you're saying, if I do that, then the area won't be defined as "open below" and so in plan view I won't see the stairs which are going down.
  5. Here is the plan view and the 3d overview
  6. Is it possible to define a room with a polyline or some other method than invisible walls or room dividers? When I use the invisible wall and rail to define a space "Open Below", the invisible wall covers up part of the area that should be seen below. I'm not sure of a way to do this and make it look right. Thanks all.
  7. Is it possible to use a polyline or some other method than walls or room dividers to define a room? When I put an invisible wall next to a rail and label the enclosed area "Open Below", the invisible wall covers up part of the opening in plan view and that doesn't look very good. thanks all.
  8. Nevermind everyone, I'm not sure what happened, but I figured it out.
  9. Does anyone know why my interior walls show the heavier line weight of 35 only on one side of the wall? I'm pretty sure it used to be on both sides of the main layer (wood studs). Not sure what I've done.
  10. 1. If i send an elevation view (in vector view with shadows on) to layout, is there a way I can reduce the "graying out" of the foundation or adjust the intensity of the gray fill? 2. Is there a way to set the defaults for edge lines and pattern lines in Chief so that the elevation view edge lines and pattern lines always come in the same? I can't find a setting for that anywhere in Chief. Thanks everyone!
  11. This is what we're striving for. I'd be interested in seeing a full set of elevations Joey. We wouldn't be interested in prints with color or fill as the builders won't pay for color paper copies. You all have me wondering though what is possible that we're unaware of. Thanks for all of your help, the people in the Chief site are incredible, and you've all been such a tremendous help to us so far. FRONT.pdf
  12. Hey everyone, I understand your feelings, but I've worked in Autocad Architecture for over 35 years. I want my drawings to look a certain way, and that isn't possible as far as I can see if you just use the elevation camera view. At least here in Kansas City, everyone's construction documents look pretty much the same, with line weights carefully manipulated, line styles carefully done to indicate above and below grade, etc. I stopped using Chief Architect after X1 because of numerous issues that I couldn't control. I like X12 and we're seriously considering migrating from Autocad Architecture to X12....but only if we can control the exact way the drawings are presented. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but like every other program out there, Chief has it's strong suits and it's weak suits. I'm just trying to get what I need, and if that's not possible, probably won't migrate.
  13. Hi everyone, I sent my elevations to Cad from Detail. When I open the CAD detail up, I want to change the Cad, default patterns layer to a different color and lineweight, but no matter how I try to do that, they remain the same. Very confusing.
  14. Thanks Eric, I appreciate your help! My best to you.
  15. Hi Eric, the draw order didn't do the trick. Moving them to another layer worked except the entire window unit didn't go to the other layer, only the main part and now I'm not even sure what the pieces on the edge of th window are. And if I find out, not sure how to move the windows to a different layer and then pick what's left and move it as well. Very confusing. Thanks though for your help. I attached plan view.
  16. I'm not sure what "adjusting the draw order" means. Sorry, new to Chief x12 here. Thanks for the help though.
  17. I have a garage door on my house plan, and I placed 3 small windows above the garage door. Now, the plan shows the garage door, but also shows the windows superimposed in plan view, which of course I don't want. Any thoughts on getting them to NOT display in plan view? Thanks.
  18. Solver, not sure how to do that.
  19. Thanks everyone, but even looking at the video, it appears that the roof planes are either still planes or they're polylines as the entire roof plane "lights up" when you select one of the lines. I don't see a way to make them single lines so that I can trim them to look the way I want them to show on the Roof Plan. Confused.
  20. When I send to Cad Detail from view, it does that, but the roof planes are still roof planes and not cad lines. Am I doing something wrong?
  21. i have my Roof Plan View layer set on, and looking at the roof plan. I want to send this view to a CAD Detail, but is seems that isn't possible? If so, how do I do that? Thanks.
  22. Thanks everyone, we got the walls to join correctly by using the edit wall intersection tool. Thanks so much.
  23. Sorry, new to x12. Edit wall layer intersections tool?
  24. Do you want us to post the whole foundation plan?
