  1. Does anyone do everything with Chief including the material lists and pricing for their clients? I realize the material list will only be as good as the plan is accurate in total completeness, and this has me a bit worried, but we are considering doing this for our clients. Obviously we would have to charge a lot more money to do everything, but we're just curious if there are people out there doing this? What are you charging? thanks in advance everyone.
  2. What happened to the "strip" fill pattern in X12?
  3. This is exactly what I wanted to do, and once you all helped, I was able to do this. Thanks all!!
  4. Thanks everyone! I think if I use the orthographic overview and then set the 3D view to Top, I get what I want and I can send that to a CAD detail and tweak it there if I need to. I'm sure I'm making this more difficult than it needs to be, but for now this works. Again, thanks to all of you, you are all life-savers for a newbie.
  5. Thanks Joey, I appreciate the help, but it just seems that there should be an easier way to do it. As you can see, the roof plan is complex, and I just want to simplify it and make it easy to read for the builder. the pdf I posted earlier shows what I want. Whatever happened to the icon that allowed us to look straight down on the top of the house?
  6. Below is the "roof plan view", but of course no one could build that as the roof planes are all overlapping etc. I remember years ago there was an icon which showed the view from directly overhead and you could just send that to a CAD to detail view. I'm sure I'm making this very difficult, but it is confusing. Thanks for everyone's help.
  7. Is there a way to look straight down on the house and send that to a cad detail? Seems to be an easy way, but I don't see how I can do that.
  8. This is not the roof for the plan in question, but it is how I want it shown. ROOF.pdf
  9. I have my roof drawn, (pretty complex), and it all works. I can't find a video or article on how to show the roof plan in plan view where lower roofs are hidden or partially hidden by roof planes above them. Is there a resource showing that? I looked in help, in training videos, nowhere do I see an answer. Thanks.

    Fonts

Does anyone have suggestions regarding fonts? I really dislike all the so-called architectural fonts available in windows, I don't think they look very professional. Helvetica etc. also don't look to be in keeping with architectural appearance. Not critical, I was just hoping someone might have some better fonts that they like. Thanks.
  11. I didn't know you made it. Impressive. You have a Youtube channel?
  12. Thanks for your help Eric. Is there a place on Youtube or Chief where you're finding these videos? I know there are videos on the Chief site, but oftentimes I guess I'm not doing the search correctly to find what I need, and the results come up zero. Thanks.
  13. Thanks Solver, I would have never seen that.
  14. I can not see a way to use the floor reference display when i'm in the foundation plan so it doesn't show the roof planes. It's unchecked in the display options.
  15. Not a problem. I did use the term stretch and only found the term as it related to "objects", not floor plans. I'll figure it out.
  16. Is there a way to stretch or shrink a floor plan (as in the autocad "stretch" command?) Trying to remove 8" in width from a house.
  17. Solver, thanks so much, I never thought about that, but it worked!!!
  18. Is there a way to change the number in a dimension line? Building height requirements allow for a certain height to the ridge, and I'm actually 1/4"-1/2" over that. Stupid regulation, I'd like to just show the dimension line and then change the number. Cheating I know, but again, stupid to have to redraw a plan and roof to adjust it 1/4" to 1/2" in height. Thanks all.
  19. Solver, I wasn't sure what you meant by "exterior room", but figured it out. That works great! Thanks to both of you for your help. We're wanting to transition from Autocad Architecture 2014 to Chief, and it's a steep learning curve, not to mention completely different toolbars and commands etc. I really appreciate your help. Hopefully we'll make this happen!!!!
  20. Thanks guys. I'll have to explore that, but at first glance, it appears that if you check any room and hit the make standard room polyline, it makes the polyline whether it should be included or not. Am I doing something wrong?
  21. Solver, I don't have any idea what that means unless you're saying to draw a polyline around the areas I want to be included. I can do that, but that's not too easy either. Not complaining, but it just seems like that would be a great idea to turn on (shaded or some other way) all the rooms either included or excluded in the calculations.
  22. Is there some way to visibly see which rooms/areas are included in the Living Area Calculations rather than going through the floor plan one room at a time? If I somehow get a room wrong, the whole calculation is wrong and the homeowners are not too happy. Just curious. Seems like there could be a "display" option that shades areas that are included or excluded.
  23. Ok, so I just noticed that it's not showing pony walls, not sure why, but it's not. But why are all the roof planes showing?
  24. When I'm on the foundation plan, and click reference display to look at the floor above for accuracy, it only shows "some" of the walls, but not all of them and they're all the same walls on the exterior. Further, it's showing "some" roof lines, but not all and I don't want any shown. When i went to the display options, I made sure that roof planes etc. and all soffits are off. But they're still showing. Very confused again.
