    Missing

Guys, I was emailed a plan file from a local builder needing me to clean up their model and do renderings for them. My question is why would this be missing (circled below). Would someone have had to delete them. I believe this came from X15 because when I saved it no warning came up about a previous version. Just trying to see how to revise this and switch between the framing and electrical and such. The home is fully modeled.
  2. haha, i noticed this little freak last year. I thought CA was rated G.
  3. Hey guys, can anyone direct me to the label settings that follow exactly how I enter them. I am a fan of lower case on these.
  4. Worked pretty good Scott!
  5. Guys, I am really having a hard time with my interior wall elevations with X15. I had my settings in previous versions that all I did was click auto dimension (NKBA). I rolled my legacy NKBA dimension settings into X15 but it is not perfect. How do we get the extension lines to actually extend closer to the opening/objects without manually pulling the grips? And why on earth is it dimension to the center height of the freezer? This is really slowing me down big time.
  6. Pline solids for the win on this one.........
  7. Not vaulted and considering making pline solids.
  8. Owner wants it at 6:12. But thanks! Here is what I ended up doing to hide the gaps. It was either this to match the roof returns on the front of the home OR pline solids for these particular frieze boards. The easiest and most novice level homes can be a PITA sometimes.
  9. Hey guys, I asked this a while back but need a reminder, how can we prevent the shortage on frieze boards in these situations? It is just a simple porch roof resting on ceiling beams (LVL's) and columns with the frieze turned on "gable only". Just looks unprofessional when I send it off to clients. Not a big deal other than that.

    Dormers

I have learned that CA dormers are trial and error. I always win the battle though, even if I have to manually build them.
  11. This happened a few times when I went to download new things from the 3D library but it keeps me logged in now. Do you stay logged in on the forum?
  12. This is probably what I need to look into learning.
  13. Walk thru paths inside the home gets difficult. I assume the guys who do it do not record one video but combine many into one (ie. editing) That is something I haven't ever got into.
  14. Awesome thanks, the whole compression thing I have always guessed at. On the exterior walk around I do a walkway path and it records great and very professional looking. When it comes to manually recording I need improvements haha.
  15. What do you guys who manually record videos have your settings at? I can record slowly while doing a bird's eye view over the home with the roof removed but at playback it has a very high speed rate. Tired of telling my client to pause the video and slide the play bar to slow it down. This is happening since I started X15 earlier this month. Obviously I am doing something wrong. Thanks.....
  16. By the sq foot, two free revisions on the prelims and then final payment after the plans are completed with electrical and structure. Any feedback from family members, interior designers or builders after the client signs off for approval on the finals goes to my $125 per hour rate. You gotta stay in control or things could pan out a year before you finish with them. Been there done that and learned many lessons.
  17. Good deal, I did just sign back on to say a curved half wall changed to invisible works good. It cuts into the molding but gets the point across.
  18. To do a radiused shower like shown below but do away with the shower curb and have it zero entry where the slab drops like an 1". We have the curved wall tool but not a curved room divider.
  19. Ahh, you are very correct, I forgot about importing drawing. Thanks!
  20. Hey guys, I have a builder who uses CA as a novice and does not have AutoCad to open the floor plan I exported and sent to them. They are requesting the floor plan only and not the whole 3D model of the home, which I am ok with because they want to play around with it and see if it is possible to cut down on some of the sq footage to meet my client's budget. Is there a way to even do that other than sending the plan file? Everything in CA is 3D so I do not see how this is possible.
  21. Me too, even at my own house. They run a P.T. 6x6 flush from the front of the porch beam down to the slab. That is fine if you do not have a base at the bottom. I am on a mono slab though. It looks like they rectified the overhang with brick rowlock. (below)
