  1. This worked beautifully and cleaner than segments.
  2. Thanks man, I tried it but couldn't get it to work on mine but I did get it to work on another easier roof. Segments got it to work although I don't think it is 100% perfect. It does build really nice framing to what I did though. Upvotes to all who helped......
  3. Thanks guys I was hoping this tool would work after adding a break on the mid span of the roof overhang. I love this tool but aren't having any luck.
  4. Hey guys, the questions continue. This would be a first for me. Radiused exterior wall and roof. How would a builder do this or how can we break the overhang to curve with the wall if that would even look good at all?
  5. 100% agree.........when you really learn the program, your turn around times on each project get better and better. What used to take me over a week to model a complex home now takes a day or two. Invest and buy good computers (another write off) and clients will love the renderings produced and make you stand out from other competitors.
  6. Us guys who use this for a living can only hope being grandfathered in and paying the SSA before it lapses every year will never change. I do not have time nor the energy to learn new software or god forbid go back to the stone age and use AutoCad. CA is built for speed and I like it. I'm 48 and still have a ways to go before retirement so there is just no telling what can happen over the next 20 years.
  7. It's always something so simple to fix, thanks! Love it.......
  8. Well, I tend to go months without having questions and it seems in the past 3 days I am getting several hiccups. I need to add a railing to close off this area below. Those openings are doorways with the trim removed. Besides manually drawing polyline solids is there a way to draw a railing wall without throwing the opening into chaos?
  9. Hey Guys, is there a way to get rid of this on the ceiling when doing walls below stairs. Should I be using pony walls?
  10. No worries DB, I thought everyone did it the same way haha. I will change my ways and do it differently now. It actually makes more sense with how you and few others who chimed in here do it. I think what happened with me is from the very first time I started on X10 CA automatically inserted them in cabinets and I have done it that way since.
  11. Why the eye roll? It has been asked before on here I just found. Besides, it has been the easiest way to do DW's for years IMO. I remove that cabinet from the schedule anyway.
  12. I like this.......the DW is inserted into a base in my home by the way.
  13. I just copied one built-in from X15 and will roll with that. Sometimes DW's aren't sandwiched in the middle but on the end of a base cabinet run.
  14. Really? That is a very odd update to do it that way. Thanks!
  15. Hey guys, I just downloaded X17 a week ago. There is a supposed to be a fix for it but I cannot get dishwashers to insert into cabinets like past versions. I also see where basin sinks with faucet all in one and certain slipper tubs are not available anymore? I downloaded every library item available as well.
  16. Looks like I have some investigating to do. I do like how migration was easy and I cannot remember if X15 offered that. It's been a minute. Skipping from 15 to 17.
  17. This is how I roll. And I also upload the client's folder to google drive routinely to keep the latest and greatest.
  18. Newbie to X17 here and already wondering the same thing about files. This will take some getting used too.
  19. Sure did Ken, I plan on shipping Monday.
  20. I auto frame it and then clean it up which includes me manual framing some areas. Framing is actually my favorite part of plans. Yes, those are 2x6's and other areas are tapered just not the porch for some reason.
  21. Yeah, for some reason this happens every now and then. I usually turn it off but really would like to have a solution. Below is how I framed it.
  22. Nah, I wish it were that easy but it is 9' like the rest of the home. Thanks
  23. How do you guys taper joists when the program doesn't do it? See below and thanks!
  24. On each house I do, I cut a back clipped cross section of an exterior wall and detail it out from that view. Because footers, insulation, sheathing, studs, facade, pitch marks etc are very common on my homes, I have callouts saved in my library, plop them in and modify whatever text I need to. Little things like this and pre saved general notes really speed up designing plans.
