  1. So there is a way to use common names through the plant chooser. Open the plant chooser & enter the common name. Click the COMMON radio button & a list of matches populate the pick list. Highlight one and click the VIEW button below another window pops up with the display of the plant. If it is 2D it will indicate that in the dialog, if 3D the dialog will be dimmed and not say 2D. I think this is correct.
  2. Thanks Jim, I too am stuck with one foot in ACAD & the other in CA.
  3. Thanks, the Aerial View is somewhat useful. Although not for all commands. The help says: • No matter what tool is active, when you move the pointer to the Aerial View window and drag a marquee, the floor plan view zooms in on that area. But for some CAD tools it is not operable. Looks like dragging an object doesn't work. God I miss Autocad. To me this is a clumsy environment to draw in.
  4. I agree, talk about user UN-friendly.
  5. For those concerned with the SATA II versus the STA III take a look at this http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-upgrade-sata-3gbps,3469.html I'm still looking for a better price on the 850 Pro 512gb but am close to a purchase. My video card is the weak link in my old system, but I may wait on that until I get a new computer.
  6. Many thanks. It's easy once you know how. Now if I can jut remember for next time.
  7. Here is a test plan WallTest.plan
  8. Walls will not break but pulling then apart I made a short 8" thick wall out from the intersection & then moved it into place.
  9. Your walls are too far apart. The north south walls share the framing line. i.e. no drywall.
  10. When you do that it creates a notch at the cabinet side of the junction.
  11. That one worked great with a swap out of the existing. Now for the switch.
  12. How can I close the walls so no notch?
  13. How can I turn the outlets & switches 90 deg? There is a raised counter top & half wall that they are in.
  14. So most likely a driver issue. I'll research that. Thanks
  15. Printing ALL sheets to PDF file via "PDFCreator" driver I have 2 sheets out of 7 that are rotated 90 deg. In the preview pane all are correct, they are landscape view. Is this an issue with the Driver or Chief? Is there a way to send each sheet to a separate file or is this the driver too?
  16. I looked everywhere, i think. Where are the exterior flood lights, Usually a pair at the corner of a house.
  17. Interesting, I assume you can raise/lower all roof planes at once, cool!
  18. Currently the lower roof is supposed to be 10', at garage the floor is -6. The higher roof on the main house is supposed to be 11'-8" The high roof over the entry needs to be adjusted up/down to be high enough to allow the entry shed roof and not be too high for the tie in on the right side roof. I may need to raise the 11'-8" roof to 12'-4" for a better look on the gable. It looks too tight where it is. I'll be back later today. Thanks
  19. Yes a typo, ON the wall, exactly as described. Metal plate separates truss & concrete. I have a plan with varying plate heights. As I try to adjust roof heights I am confused as to what the best method is. There are two areas that need manual roof plane adjustments & auto roof keeps deleting the manual adjustments. I wanted to move bearing height up & down & change the roof pitch as well to determine the optimum for this house. Once I added interior walls, using the floor structure to adjust bearing plate height became troublesome. At first I was using just large areas, calling them hall, living room & garages. What method do you use to adjust plate heights to change the roof plane? BellaVistaLot3-r3.plan
  20. 99% of my roof trusses are pre manufactured trusses and sit on the wall with no 1-1/2" plate on CMU walls. Top chord on trusses are 2x4 except for tile roof or long spans & then 2x6 They can be standard overhang or cantilevered overhang. Overhangs vary from 12", 16", 20" & 24" Sub Fascia boards are 2x6 or 2x8 typically. What settings are critical to achieve a true roof plane & fascia height? Assume ceilings are 10'
  21. Does it bother anyone else that the basic description & size is missing when you select an object in the Library Browser? Searching for a Large Dresser I get many pictures but no way to judge actual size. Seems to me as a no brainier that that info should be displayed if you select an item. Or is there something I missed? Also some items can be stretched with no problem but some can not. I tried to stretch dresser to make it wider but it moves the right side like a blank & the left side it only stretches the top. Should be some warning that the object can not be stretched, like an Astrix or something. Just venting.
  22. I though I had too but could not find the article.
