  1. I downloaded the Jenn-Air library from CA for X6 but it is missing some specialty items that I need. The local appliance dealer here wants to remodel the showroom and I need a coffee bar and steam oven. Jenn-Air has a 20-20 library but I can't seem to figure out how to get the symbols into CA in a format that I can use. The file type is listed as SHP. Any suggestions?
  2. I just upgraded to X6 and am having the same issue with the child tools not being to the right of the parent on the same line. Did anyone come up with a way to make that happen as it did in X5 and earlier?
  3. David that was the perfect trick - thank you
  4. I am trying to find a Dacor symbol catalog for use in CA X5. The website seek.autodesk.com has several file types available for download but I am not sure that any are compatible with CA for symbol content. Does anyone have experience in using the file types available from Autodesk or similar in CA? thanks
  5. never mind- just realized there is one for X6 on the catalog download page- looks like I'm upgrading !
  6. After some searching I am guessing that it's not out there- but does anyone know of a Jen-Aire symbol catalog?
  7. that's also the method I have had to use to get pony walls to show the upper and lower materials properly.
  8. I should upgrade- I have SSA so not really a cost issue. Just really busy right now and not ready for the learning curve that will come with the move up. ( I'm sure it's minimal however.) Probably this winter when the snow starts piling up.
  9. just got an email to that effect
  10. I am probably missed checking a box in the forum preferences or settings somewhere when the new General Q&A forum started but I no longer get email alerts regarding responses to topics I have started. any ideas? Or maybe this is the clans way of phasing me out of the tribe
  11. Mick- just played around with the method you described above and worked SWEET!!!! worth way more than a 6 pack- thanks again
  12. Thanks Mick - that's what I love about this forum. I'm sure there will be additional colors that I will need - now I know the trick to create then myself ! if you ever find yourself in Central Oregon - beers on me
  13. One of the builders that I do promotional renderings for has requested the following colors from Sherwin Williams: Homeburg Grey 7622 Grecian Ivory 7541 Rushing River 7746 I have loaded the latest SW library for X5 which I am working in but none of the above are listed. In the past I have always found the colors requested by the attached SW reference number but not with these. I am wondering if they are a new line or addition. Could someone working in X6 look in the latest SW library and ley me know if they are included. I have been putting off moving to X6 but maybe this is the last push I need.
  14. I have used that Garage Door Wizard as well and it was 25.00 well spent
  15. I hope this isn't too off topic but since we are discussing p-line solids in elevation view I thought I would bring it up..... I use p-line solids to create belly bands and like trim in elevation. I go from wall to wall and manually create a band and then change it's layer to a new one or put it on the corner board layer then change it to the material I desire. I can transform replicate or copy if the items are in a close enough area or plane but overall it is time consuming effort.. any suggestions on a better method?????
  16. It is probably a setting I have wrong somewhere but in the plan I am working on every time I click on a wall and then a dimension to move that wall- the dimension dbx gives me the option to " Move edge" or "Move entire object". Generally when it comes to walls I want to move the whole thing-moving the edge is not very helpful when dialing in an entire plan. what am I missing here?
  17. I think I may have an idea- I rotated the plan 90 degrees to fit on arch d layout. my guess is that is what is causing the issue.
  18. In a new revelation - it appears that the more text in the dialogue- the farther the text jumps on the screen
  19. I am having a strange issue with standard text. (and only in one plan at this point) when I place new text or edit existing text I select and open as usual- type new or modify existing - click ok - the text then jumps up on the screen @ 2" or so. ( probably 4' in actual plan scale- not always the same distance and really no consistency to it ) Is it possible that I have a setting checked or unchecked somewhere? thanks.
  20. I am having trouble with soffits and roof overhangs. most of the time we build with finished materials on top of the rafters or trusses in the eave and up the gable rakes. as you can see in the attached snip the soffit material is below the gable fascia and hanging below the flat soffit material in the covered porch. if I uncheck soffits in the options dbx it eliminates the soffit material in the rake but still shows protruding down below the flat soffit in the covered porck. any suggestions on what I may be missing.
  21. whoops- hit the post thread button a little to soon. does anyone have a material to replicate this Hardi panel siding with the seams showing proud. if not , maybe a suggestion in how to create such a material in render and vector view
  22. I have a plan that has a daylight basement area on a sloping lot. a very small portion of this will be living space- bed and bath. normally I can just specify that those rooms are included in the living area calculation and the crawlspace areas are not. however once in a great while - as in this case- there is no living area shown. the rooms can be selected and opened individually- show names and sizes and even offer whether or not to include or exclude from living area calculations. I have tried all the usual steps- turn off and on in plan defaults- plan check- restart CA. in floor defaults I am not offered the option to calculate living area to main layer or surface either. is this a CA bug or more than likely the reoccurring -RL Inc. bug
  23. It has been my experience that CA has yet to have a truly realistic B&B material. the normal way we do it around here is 4'x 8' sheet material over 16" o/c studs and then 1"x3" battens 16" o/c.
