  1. I have issues with soffits from time to time and was wondering if I could get some guidance. In the attached screen shots you can see that I have a very simple shed roof design for a modern plan. in the view for the clerestory area over the deck you can see that the soffits under the upper end have varying steps. Not sure why. I have the ceiling unchecked for the adjacent room which runs all the way across that section.
  2. Probably a stupid question but I have viewed some of the on demand webinars in the past.when I go to the on demand webinars section of the website it says that I already own some of the videos. I have looked through my computer and cannot find them. can't seem to find anything in the "My Seminars" tab of the website either. any suggestions
  3. Thanks - the greyscale did the trick this is what I was shooting for BRYCE CYN ARC SUBMITTAL 04-14-15-Layout.pdf
  4. x6 But after looking at all the rave reviews abut the transparency tool in X7 I can see that changing soon.
  5. Ok- just tried to create a p-line with solid fill but do not see how/ where to adjust transparency?
  6. It should be simple but I can't seem to dial it in- I just want to be able to show a lightly shaded area in a site plan for the driveway or walkway. I can color the poly-line and show that shading in the layout view if I have the color toggled on but I do not want to print in color. want B&W but with the same transparent shading
  7. I can see how that works with certain object and surfaces but what i need is more cad based. Really just a poly-line fill color that will display with the ability to adjust transparency in layout.
  8. I did a search for this but no luck- I would like certain objects - driveway in a site plan for example- to have a bit of shading on the printed page. Not a full blown black out or a patterned fill but just a touch of transparent grey to set of the separate area. I can show a the shading if I toggle the color on but I do not want to print in color - just show a grayscale shading of sorts of the given area or object.
  9. any way to set that single rim joist default to all walls?
  10. too bad- often revise a few pages or create another set of drawings altogether and want to delete the previous revision from all pages. maybe in another version soon
  11. does anyone know of a way to edit or delete a revision from all pages at one time?
  12. I played around and made this one with p-line solids. With a bit of work I can see how one could really dial it in. Thought I would share it here. MODERN GARAGE DOOR.calibz
  13. Does anyone have a symbol for a garage door similar to this? ( the one I actually need would have the glass panels all the way to one side in a line but you get the idea. ) I have the Chiefware garage door wizard but that won't cut it. Maybe have to create from scratch with p-lone solids?
  14. I have played with the ambient color settings as well as the environment light color but still my raytrace view is coming out with a pink hue compared to the render view which is much closer to the actual libray material. any ideas
  15. Thanks Arthur- too easy Joe- I just find it easier to adjust the location of the layout view names via text on the layout page
  16. I like the way most of the layout tools work in X6 but have issue with a couple items- 1- is there a way to set the default for views sent to layout to have the label suppressed? now I have to suppress the label on each layout box individually. 2- in regards to revision tables Generally I want to show the same revision- ie. DESIGN PRELIM 1- on each sheet, with the appropriate information. And then so on for each additional revision. To do this I have been creating the page revision on page 0 and then having the page range be 1-12 ( or whatever the file may consist of) The issue is that if I want to delete or revise any of the existing revisions in the table I have to go to each page and make the change or deletion. Is there a way to access all of the pages for a given revision at once? If not may be a nice feature to have.
  17. I agree- there should be a wa to set the location of the Lining area label and have it stay locked there. ( works for layout boxes)
  18. Probably a simple/stupid issue but I am not getting my roof planes to snap to the intersection points. I checked in preferences and seemed to have the same behaviors checked that produced the proper snapping in the past. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
  19. I think you are on the right track with it- i will talk to my computer gal on Monday and see if i can get rid of the old user completely and make sure that the new user profile has all the proper privileges. Already running X6- just have some plans in X5 that I use. thanks for all the advice.
  20. i guess the other question i have is - should i delete X5 from this user profile and re-install. my eventual goal is to remove the previous user profile from the machine all together one i am certain that i have the new profile complete and stable. ( man- i wish i was better at the computer end of this stuff )
  21. running CA as administrator works - all the libraries are there when i open X5 that way- but will i have t that every time? when i close it down and then reopen through the icon on the task bar i get the same issue. the following error appears for every library folder that is not there when i open X5 in regular mode-[attachmen t=4754:CA SNIP.PNG] is there an issue wit running X% as administrator every time i use it??
  22. I had a problem with my computer and had to create a new user profile on it. I copied everything over from the old profile but some of the bonus libraries and manufacturer libraries didn't come over. ( just some - not all ) when I try import them from the CA website I get the attached error message. any ideas - I am wondering if I should reinstall X5 in this new user profile?
  23. OK- call off the dogs. I found the tab that Robert mentioned and located the appropriate dwg files. then I was able to import them as symbols. Thanks all for your patience and help.-
  24. I am looking all over the Jenn Air site and for the life of me I can't find the CAD AND DESIGN FILES tab that Robert has mentioned
