  1. Perry, nope I checked to turn off anything that could be using additional resources. I will just continue with what is and just have the patience to deal with the sketchy mouse. If it gets to be too annoying I can try another mouse or just reinstall the last patch that wasn't so buggy. Thanks for trying to help me out though, I appreciate it.
  2. I checked for the latest mouse drivers and it said I have the latest drivers for the entire computer including the mouse. I guess Ill just deal with these annoyances or plug another mouse in and see if that works. Worst case scenario I guess I can go back to the last chief update patch and install that because I had no issues with that version at all. Hopefully another update will clear this up.
  3. Hi thanks for the additional advice. I don't have a wireless or battery operated mouse its just a wired alienware mouse. I specifically wanted it old school and wired so I didn't have to deal with Bluetooth and batteries. Ive had many great wireless mouses in the past but wanted to go old school this time. I will check to see if there are any mouse updates. The strange thing is Im only experiencing the inaccuracies and sketchy mouse behavior in chief but no other computer software or online applications.
  4. Thanks all for the replies. My mouse is an alienware mouse for my alienware computer. I went ahead and checked the NVidia drivers for the computer and it said these were the most up to date and the same for the entire system. I haven't ever had any of these issues till the other day Im not sure where else to check for updates. My two Nvidia cards are 580s. Its like you hold the mouse down to move something and it just skips or wont pick up or drops too early, best word to describe it is sketchy.
  5. Anyone having mouse issues with Chiefs latest update? Ive updated all drivers on the computer and for the mouse. The mouse is acting sketchy only in chief. Any ideas?
  6. Heres the other link I mentioned about the pass throughs. Just a few small tweaks with chiefs software and it would make things a whole lot easier. In both instances these situations don't ask for much just a little flexibility.
  7. Ok thanks for the help I will look into that. I just wish chief could allow a little more flexibility with these types of choices for doorways and walk throughs. I did a similar post about pass throughs a while back where it wouldn't allow me to place trim on the bottom of the pass through. Slightly annoying. Thanks for the efforts and replies.
  8. Mike I went ahead and tried the method of using the combo you suggested but it wont work in that you cant get rid of the bottom casing/jamb unless you want it applied to all casing and jamb. Looks like this is just something I cant do in chief, Im really surprised though it doesn't seem that big of a deal. I will keep looking into different possibilities and see what I can find. Thanks!
  9. Eric, yes Id need both the jamb and casing including so the concrete trim would cover the casing, the inside jamb and interior side casing. Mike I will give that a try Ive never double stacked doors or doorways so I will see how chief reacts. This design element is annoying because it works without the trim but once you need the jamb and casing it gets crazy. You should see what chief does when you try and raise the doorway up then it turns into a pass through. I love chief, I just wish these minor details didn't need to turn into major hassles.
  10. Im looking to have arches with casing and columns holding the arches up without the lower wall. Ive custom made a pony wall with invisible wall on the bottom half of the wall and regular wall on the upper. Problem is whether I create the pony wall or the wall as a solid regular wall and lift the wall up in 3d the casing on the arches still reaches to the floor. Any ideas on how I can have cased arches without the casing all the way to the floor? I tied both pony wall and raising regular walls up but still the casing reaches the floor. Thanks in advance!
  11. Thanks for the replies, I will give it a try!
  12. Have corner window functions changed in X11? It use to be drag two identical windows to the corner, push them together in the corner and uncheck corner post. Now if I do that, even on a new default plan just trying it out, it grays out the option to uncheck corner post. Since bifold doors dont allow for corner fuctions without corner post I normally would delete all the glass out of the window and do some alterations to make this work. Now bringing forth an older plan from a couple versions ago the window procedure worked great but I can no longer do it this way. How do you all do corner windows and doors in X11? Thanks!
  13. Wow thanks for all the feedback everyone a lot to look into. I had changed the railings a few times so this makes sense that maybe I didnt have one of the railings all the same as the others. I will try that cad option too Eric, I never thought of using the cad to help make it just right. Usually I draw a straight railing diagonally to meet the other railing and then use the arc tool. I will try out your method, thanks for that. Chopsaw I will also make a special sill symbol for the pass thru opening and see how that works. Thanks everyone for the input, I appreciate it a lot!
  14. Eric, by selecting the go through floor below does that help it connect better and create the railing more successfully? I havent had to make any adjustments using those tools much. Mick, thanks for the input. I guess I will have to go check the X11 default railing settings because maybe all the new plans Im going to making might have similar issues. I never ran across this before in the 16 years using chief... except for when you dont align walls correct sometimes the empty fill will happen but will self correct once you align the railing and wall.
  15. Just wanted to add the link to the other post everyones talking about similar things...
  16. Chopsaw thanks so much for the compliments and the stair solution! Yes it looks great, even better then the molding which looked funky because it didnt fit as well as it would using the other tools. When you looked at the veranda opening do you think its only possible to do what I was wanting to do with that using a custom symbol vs just the tools in the door or pass thru dbx?
  17. Great thanks Chopsaw. So I went ahead and deleted most the plan its nearly 6,000 square feet so there was a lot of deleting to do. I actually had to go back and delete more because the file was too big to load. However it does have both issues I wrote about on chieftalk the covered veranda with the pass thru with the sill tile I was trying to do and then the railing. The railing looks fine because I put the molding on there but if I delete it, the crazy void is still there. Take a look and tell me what you think! Example.plan
  18. No Eric those pictures I just posted were just examples and not windows. This application was for a second floor covered loggia that only included a pass thru vs balusters and traditional railings for outdoor rooms. The spanish tile was for the bottom portion of the opening kind of like a sill but that went from the apron area of both sides. Basically like example 1 and 3 accept without having the tile run up the sides and top of the framing. The link you sent would have been great had this been a window application but its just for an open pass thru.
  19. Thanks for the replies. Chopsaw I looked at the default railing that it was set to and it didnt have a drywall layer but even when I added one it didnt make a difference?? So what I decided to do is just do a polyline molding and cover it up. It would have been nice to be able to fix this properly vs a tape job but at least its not looking like it was. If I were to try it again with the drywall layer added onto the railing do I need to make any changes to the main layer or have it below or above the main default layer? Im just wanting to try and figure this out even though I used the polyline molding. Thanks for all your help!
  20. Normally when railings loose the center fill in 3d it means its not properly aligned with the walls below. Usually a quick alignment of the walls corrects this. However, in this design you can see the walls are purposely shaped custom for the design and the design wont allow for the railing to match the lower walls. How can I get this ugly open space filled below the railing? Thanks!
  21. I created a generic example of what I was trying to accomplish in a much more complex plan. The two on the left are doorways, the two on the right are pass thrus. There are some benefits too both as they have different options like jambs and sills. The challenge Im having with both are I want the tile to completely cover the bottom portion of the opening. The examples shown in the picture are the entire surround of the frame tiled or only the sills without it covering the entire bottom portion of the opening. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
  22. Before I downloaded the update I called tech support and they reassured me that there wouldnt be any issues if you update your drivers and video card drivers, so I did them all. Still happened anyway so something definitely has changed. The SEH error I cant remember what I did to trigger the error but I know from using the undo button on the second shut down it literally just closed up chief like I X'd out of it to close it for the day. I had to retrieve the design I was working on through the arch auto save method. No fun.
  23. Answered my own question with more trial and error... I just increased the casing depth! I hope this helps someone else out there trying to do the same window treatment! Chad
  24. YAY! Chief fixed the brick window sill issue so now it finally recesses like versions past. Kudos Chief! Now I have a question regarding the windows featured in my picture. What Im looking for is the recessed sill featured in window 1 & 2 but I want the exterior casing to not be recessed like Window 3. I cant seem to do both Ive only been able to find these three variations with the window and Im not completely happy with any of them. Is the recessed brick sill and non recessed casing out of the question? Thanks for any help! Chad
