  1. Wow! This forum is still the greatest! Thanks for all the help.
  2. I do not have Photoshop and I do not know if this can be done within Chief. But if someone could make this into a repeating pattern with the white to be transparent and turned 45 degrees. Then make into a Chief library material with a simple diagonal pattern. I intend to use this as cabinet panel that will allow me to see through it in standard view and a similar pattern will show on wall elevations or vector view. Otherwise, could someone post a link that shows me how to do this without Photoshop? Thank you.
  3. I mulled windows together after modifying the sash frame and trim to create a 2" x 4" frame. Made the frame 1" thick and the casing to 2" wide each side. Set the spacing between to "0". The sash was reduced to 1/2" profile and made the glass material to screen material. It worked better than expected.
  4. I would like to have a 2"x4" multi-framed grid with out a sash. What works well in Chief?
  5. This should not be hard, but is totally frustrating just to figure out how to draw lines!
  6. Can you give me an idea what it looks like or where to find it?
  7. Just starting to draw some details in Chief when I noticed that Cad line that share the same point become one polyline whether I want them to or not. How do I break them into two with out deleting and redrawing? This was an issue when I added an exterior door where I have 12" base trim around the house. I needed to break the trim at the door. I assume the problems have similar solutions. Help and videos were not help.
  8. I did all of that, but I re-checked and found the difference in "Edit - Default Settings - Materials - Cabinet Door/Drawer" it was set to "Brite" not "White". That should do it.
  9. I am setting defaults for a template plan when I have set all the cabinet colors to "white" from the generic color materials in the Core Catalog. BUT when I wanted to create a drawer base with 3 drawers with recessed panels, the panels came in a different color white called "Brite". Where does Chief control this default color? I want to change it. From time to time I need to modify cabinets to make custom and it is a pain to have multi-shaded cabinets if there is a place to control this. I know I can create a library of my own cabinets, but where is the control to make this process simpler?
  10. So if Chief comes with profile.plan, wouldn't be good to create my own template named as such rather than risk having Chief over write my efforts with a new profile.plan? Or does this not work that way?
  11. I did it once... I have 8 plan views in my layout and need to change the layer set referenced for all of them. I did once the other day, but I am not able to remember how I did it or the method is disabled. I looked up help too, but that did not help. The only layer set available is "default set".
  12. I would imagine the reason a request has not been implemented is because the programmers have not figure out how to make them work successfully. Nobody wants a buggy app.
  13. The user is the marketplace. This forum may be the minority of users, but each users here represents all the users. To ignore the threads on this forum is suicide. All those who are the "marketplace" are just future users. Technology keeps moving and it is important to keep up or fade away. Listen to the users and live! Potential users come here and inquire and make an investment or not based upon the user forum that does speak. Hail! to the user! My two cents! So how much is that now? six cents?
  14. Actually, it would be nice if they would connect, but maintain the "scalloped" or broken arc look to provide clarity of each connection rather than smoothly running through.
  15. It has been so frustrating when the splines want to connect an make one long squiggly line instead of the standard broken arches. And they do it with out notice.
  16. Ah another issue has come up that is related to this discussion. When I have a plan and "save as" to create a new version, all the Layout links are for the previous version. I can update the links one camera at a time, but is there an easier and quicker way?
  17. Hmm. Back to layers. Thank you Joe and Alan. I am not sure I fully understand Perry's method yet. Aside from titleblocks, what else do you set up in the layout template to save time?
  18. So I just attempted to answer my own question... I can add layers, I can rename the layers, BUT I cannot reduce the number of layers given to me by Chief Architect? Are all these layers coded so that if I rename the "electrical" to "fish, brains", all the lighting and e-symbols will still go on the "fish, brains" layer? Then, if after that, I create a new layer called "electrical" the symbols will not go on that newer electrical layer? I just counted 156 layers that cannot be deleted. I was hoping to simplify the list.
  19. I believe that I cannot use just one Layout templet, because each project and each phase of a project will use various sheet sizes to communicate different information to different people. For example, for this one project, I have generated dozens of 8 1/2 x 11 sheets for each room (plan, wall elev, 3d view) for the client to approve cabinetry for each room. Then I have generated 30" x 42" sheets of electrical and lighting layouts for the electrical contractor to review. I have a different layout for each sheet size. Am I taking the wrong approach in using Layout templates?
  20. Thanks for your input. I do not intend to copy the AIA CAD Layering Guidelines, but use my own version of it. For instance, I do not exchange files with muti-disciplines, so no need to include the "A-" for architectural data as 90% of the data is architectural. However, I have this question. When inserting light fixtures, electrical switches and outlets, they all came in on the "electrical" layer and I could not find a way to change that default. I wanted another lighting layer, but I could not get the light symbols to change layer defaults. What would happen if I were to delete that layer or rename it and then tried to insert a lighting symbol? How does Chief work with this? If I change the layer naming system, do I also need to duplicate the core catalog to work with my layer names? I am likely misunderstanding this.
