  1. I have loaded X-9 on my desktop with all the core, bonus. MFG and my user libraries. I need to do the same to my new laptop.  I have installed X-9 to the laptop but is there a way to load all the bonus and the same MFG libraries I dont use all the MFG libs) without having to download each one individually from the CA website and then load each one individually?

    Thanks

  2. Just an update.  A few weeks ago, I had asked for input about a couple machines and of course got a wide array of input. I gave my laptop to a design intern for school and needed to buy a new one.  I usually only use a laptop when going to client’s homes and doing a design review meeting and not as my main system.  ANYWAY.... The new laptop arrived a few days ago. All has been loaded with X-8 with my full libraries and I think it will work fine for my needs.  I think it would actually be fine as someone’s main machine. I’ve ran it through several plans with no issues. I opened a fairly large plan and selected a view to Raytrace and it had completed its first pass in 21 seconds.  Right now it is on pass 54 and we are just under 15 mins. I wanted to give the specs so if anyone is looking into a new and a little less expensive machine. With a military discount from Dell it was just under $900.  Maybe this will help someone.

  3. I hadn't rebooted before deleting the duplicates... Didnt know I should have.  It made a mess of everything.  Fortunately, I have two onsite back ups, DB and Carbonite.  Just by completely replacing the data folder with one of the back up all is ok about about 30 mins

  4. Ive been using chief all day and just came back in the office, opened the same plan I was working in before and when I went to the library I noticed every folder in my user library had a twin??????    Anybody ever seen this?  Exact duplicate with same material in each folder.   No even sure how to fix it other than delete all the duplicates.

  5. Michael is correct.   I have hit up my Delta / Brizo rep.  She did mention they are in 20-20 but that doesn't do us much good.  I also spoke to our Arizona Tile rep and they were wondering what their cost would be. Waiting on a KitchenAid rep to contact me.  I think some MFG's think if they are included in 20-20 OR if you can download a symbol from their website they are covered with all programs across the board.  Again with cost... We are a DeWils cabinet dealer and my wife and I are close to their marketing director (also daughter of company owner) and she was asking about cost.  Again they are part of 20-20.

Chief has room planner for as-builds. Chief has greatly improved it , with wall thickness and such. I think I'll give it another try.

Havery you tried using it for initial site measurements then importing back into chief?  If it will even do that

If I am the one framing those walls, I want the dimensions to the framing corner intersects, not the intersects of the drywall finish.  I think you are showing framing in your pic #1 but cannot be sure.

You can edit your scheme where the wall springs off the first wall at 45, so as to retain your desired first wall length.  Your inside intersect moves rightward, of course.

In most cases we are not framing those walls and are remodeling a bath or kitchen with the footprint remaining in place.  Anything there are new walls I specify rough framing dimensions

Just add a few dimension lines manually at the desired locations. The temp dimensions are kinda handy in some circumstances but you shouldn't and can't be using them exclusively.

Is this what you're speaking of Michael?

  9. I have reached out to a few Chief Guru's about an online chat but wanted to throw these questions out there about getting the correct wall dimensions while drawing a plan. 90% of our business is kitchen, bath and interior remodels so most of my measuring is all interior wall surfaces.  I have attached screen prints showing my questions as it seems showing is always better than explaining.  If this is a pain in the butt and I need to wait and find one on one help just let me know.   Thanks as always

I've replaced missing textures with just a color that is easy to see like pink. Then changed it later. That was opening old 3D views though.  Don't remember if you can select all in that dbx. I've also just deleted them. Now I replace al textures when importing SU models.

Mark, I was able to go thru and multi select parts of the list so it only took about an 1/2 hr. but I changed all those old / unknown textures to a bright pink from the core library and it cleared the list.  Since I have seen a few materials on items with that pink in them. The majority were appliances (GE, KitchenAid) from 3D WH, Kohler fixtures that I had downloaded a few years back and Brizo / Delta faucets from 3D WH.  Now since Kohler is part of the MFG libraries Ive been able to delete all those old symbols. Still have some of the Brizo / Delta / KitchenAid since CA doesn't have them and we use alot of their products.  The library is not perfect but much better.  Thanks Again
