  1. I just made my first stab at a new pattern. It was a nostalgia pattern for those that have ever cut out peel and stick dot matrix screens for poche. Just a grid of tiny dots. I placed small filled gray circles at 1" on a 12" square grid. Saved that to a pattern and I almost broke the internet. What is the better solution because that was a fail? Thanks Alan
  2. I use one layout and have layers set up for layout styles/sizes.
  3. I have not had this. Have you: 1. rebooted your computer? 2. reinstalled CA14? 3. Are you opening the files from Chief or clicking on the file in Explorer?
  4. There are also some 3D dedicated websites with job boards where you can probably find a freelancer to help with your model. I would recommend you treat this as two projects requiring different skillsets. Otherwise, you might get a mediocre version of each side of the project if you have one person do both pieces. https://forum.highend3d.com/
  5. What is that file extension? Looks scary af
  6. If the drawing was saved before the crash there is an archive file. If you never saved the drawing from "untitled", no. Look in your Chief data folder. Mine is located C:\Users\Alan\Documents\Chief Architect Premier X14 Data\Archives
  7. The image for the backdrop is an image from my user library imported to be a background. I just replaced it with a background from the CA library base and it made no difference. I have also tried both going to layout as the screen and the entire plan. No difference.
  8. It is the backdrop and the layout box is much larger than the displayed image. I have always had this occur on plans so there must be a setting if others are getting something different. Here is a link to an X15 plan file that is too large to attach. https://www.dropbox.com/s/x6skbfznb2vpa34/WIL DD V2C 96 doors.plan?dl=0
  9. Why does this happen and how can I change it? I tried changing the camera clipping in the cross section camera but it did not change this cropping of the elevation sent to Layout as a live view. Do I need to change the defaults for cameras?
  10. I am team dummy sheet. Or was that just team dummy?
  11. I have an older Alienware laptop that I am going to replace soon to keep up with the graphics needs. If you are buying the Alienware products, check the specs for the weight. I was able to eliminate my gym membership after about 90 days of lifting the Alienware laptop.
  12. I would just tell my client that breakfast nooks went out with Shaker style cabinets and Keto diets.
  13. If you are using stucco, this will work. Do a web search for One Hour Wall assembly and refine your search for exterior side. Basically, you are going to need to use a Class 1 siding material and have a layer of Denseglass or similar over your sheathing. There are some fire rated sheathings that you can use to avoid the extra layer. UL U387 Wall Assembly one hour with mineral sheets.pdf
  14. It sounds like your concern is that the client could "steal" the file? My thoughts on this issue is that if a client takes my file and runs, I would be protected by my rejections.
  15. I would manage this with 2 layout sets. The plans would be using "plan views" to manage the defaults.
  16. I think the above post needs to be moved to the thread on ChatGPT?
  17. I always have a PLN save and a CD save for my layouts.
  18. I can see what you don't want but I don't know what you do want. In lieu of the next1000 words, a picture?
  19. In the future, if your subject for the post reflects key information about your question, it will help for the post being useful in the future and possibly also for people being interested in opening up the post. I am always interested in dummies so that is what drew me here.
  20. Microsoft Surface Pro is the closest you would get to an actual tablet that will run CA
  21. What rendering technique are you using (Standard, PBR)? How many lights are in the scene? Have you used imported symbols (Sketchup or other potentially high poly count models)? All critical factors.
