Louie_Carter
It's been several years since I worked with my Chief X5, so I'm quite rusty at this, but need a quick refresher on a new wall type. I opened a new Plan, then created a new wall type for commercial interior walls. I saved the simple plan. Later, I wanted to start a new project, but when I went looking for the new commercial interior wall that I created a couple of day ago, it was not in any of the drop-down lists. How do I find it, or is there a step I left out? Thanks.
Joe_Carrick
It won't work in X5, but in X6 and later you can add Wall Definitions to the Library. In X5 you would need to Export it (using the File Menu) and then Import into your Default Plan.
Rashid_Garuba
The wall saved with THAT file... Either you make a template with that file and use THAT template as a basis for new projects.. OR save the wall into the Library THEN every new plan can access it from there in the future..
Joe_Carrick
Rashid, X5 doesn't provide saving Wall Types in the Library. That didn't happen until X6.
tommy1
In X5, open your profile plan you're using. Add it there. Close and save. It will then be there when you "open new plan".
Louie_Carter
Joe, am I correct in assuming that I export using the wall definitions that creates a .dat file, and then import that into my default plan? Is that the approach?

Is that the approach? Yes, that's what you need to do in X5 and prior. You really should update to X7 or X8. The capability differences are well worth the cost.
