ericepv
I am working on a project that has a large quantity of silver metallic drape. I have been experimenting with different material typed and properties to get the most realistic reflective metallic look but so far I have not found a really good option. I tried using metallic or reflective material typed but I get alot of speckling and would need to add a lot of extra lighting which really slows down the Ray-Trace. I have attached the material sample. Anyone have any suggestions?
HamlinBC
I would say that you need to find a texture that has the "metal look", apply it to your drapes and then just a some reflective/specular to that material.
Alaskan_Son
Or perhaps hire someone like Kathlene Moore to do the renderings for you... http://castleview3d.com/
Rich_Winsor
Here I've had a play with giving several of Chief's standard library items a "reflective metallic look". If this is on the right path experiment with using the Adjust Material Definition (rainbow tool) to set the Material Class to Shiny Metal and in the Define Material dbx start with; Specular - 50%, Roughness - 0% and Reflection - 85%. These settings should get you in the ballpark.
Solution ericepv Posted January 4, 2016 Author Solution Share Posted January 4, 2016 Thanks for the tips. After much experimentation, I found that assigning a reflective material class with high reflection value works best.
