ImNewHere Posted yesterday at 06:31 PM Share Posted yesterday at 06:31 PM hi everyone, i'm curious if anyone has ideas on how to build the slab-roof patio on the right, and the cantilever slab window awning way over on the left. i can't seem to find any examples anywhere, but these both seem like common features... Renerabbitt Posted yesterday at 07:26 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:26 PM For the right “roof,” build it using railing walls on a second floor, set to a solid rail style with a height of 4". Then, in the room dialog, define the structure accordingly. Add a few polylines and convert them to holes in the platform, or use a skylight converted to a fixture and set it to insert into the floor. For the left roof, use a flat roof. Set the pitch to 1/4" or 0" and adjust the structure and fascia as needed.

Michael_Gia Posted yesterday at 11:28 PM Share Posted yesterday at 11:28 PM The roof above the garage is just a room with the ceiling height set to the height you want your parapet walls. Add a cap on those walls, your floor finish is EPDM and you can even use the automatically generated baseboards as the flashing by adjusting their heights and material. You can use the same principle for your balcony on the right and just set your walls to the railing type you’re looking for. What René said for the canapé roof over the door on the left, or just cheat with 3D solids. (If you’re not cheating, you’re not trying) Of course, use proper detail drawings to illustrate these features and not some 3D generated section. My opinion of course.
ImNewHere
Ah, thanks for that extra detail, and the tip on using 3D solids! Also, do you happen to know why... 1. When I make a roof in a room with invisible walls, it floats a foot above the ceiling plane, and I don't know how to raise it up to the roof, or pull the roof fascia down to the ceiling.2. There's a material setting in the roof spec called Cantilever Underside, which seems like something I need to learn about, but I don't know what it's for.
