CAD Detail from View Defaults

Is there a way to set the line defaults in the CAD Detail from View tool? Whenever I use it the line weights are always too heavy and wanted to see if I could bypass having to change all of that.

You can set the default layer set to use in the layer set defaults.  I'm not sure why it doesn't just use whatever layer set you are in since then it would be more wysiwyg.

Shane, go into Defaults and set the layer properties for the various views.

 

CAD Detail From View of Elevations will use CAD_ Default_Lines and CAD_ Default_Patterns layers.

I actually don't want the line weights to be the same as the view the detail is made from, and so these unique layer sets can be customized to produce the desired results automatically. Also, some views need a special layer set since the feature converts the model and other objects that otherwise don't have CAD-like line settings into CAD using special layers mentioned above, and those layers can be preprogrammed with the line settings you want. The OOB template doesn't even have those layers in the ALDO, they're created automatically when a detail view from say an elevation is created.

 

Fun fact: when a CAD Detail from View is first made from a plan view, layers "0" and "Defpoints" are automatically created, with nothing on them.

Thanks.... I am drawing some basic details and this will help. The line weight is set to 50 in some of the lines like drywall lines in a wall section which makes no sense.

Thanks for the assist guys.... Today I awarded solution to DB because he used the term "wysiwyg" and he was first to the party. For real though, thanks for the help. Helps to have help to navigate Chief and its many facets.
