Gary_Swanson Posted yesterday at 12:44 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:44 AM Using x15: In Oklahoma we generally use brick on the exterior of our houses. When we dig a footing we center it on the exterior of the frame wall and the exterior of the stem wall will also line up with the exterior of the frame wall. I think after much trial an error I have the footing centered on the exterior of the main wall. The problem is I can't get the stem wall and the 1st floor main wall to line up to their exterior. The garage is 36'x24', but the stem wall comes out is 37 7/8' x 25 7/8'. I have moved the wall a little and hit the alignment button but I get the same thing. I've spent hours trying to figure out what I'm missing. I'm sure its some small thing I've missed. Would someone look at the plan and see what I'm doing wrong? Michael_Gia
Don't try to line up as it is on the field. The important thing is that the exterior of your brick lines up with the exterior of your stemwall to make drawing plans easier. It's more important to line up your framing so that it sits on the stemwall at the proper position. (which is the middle of your stemwall, probably) In the field your brick actually overhangs past the stemwall at least 5/8" but this would be a problem in Chief. Just adjust the brick depth to aline with the stemwall exterior when making your wall composition and life will be simple.

PitMan71
A couple things I noticed when opening file.... The wall that has the man door and windows is marked as a foundation wall. ALSO, the lower part of the pony wall w/stone is set to generate foundation to the outside of the stone (This is in the wall type settings under the "properties" tab.) which may be contributing to the behavior you're experiencing when generating the foundation. When I corrected those two things and generated the foundation using a stem wall the foundation generated correctly. I have X16 so I can't save to X15 or at least I don't know how. Good luck. Gary_Swanson
Wow! That fixed it!! I have been looking and looking for what wasn't right and I just missed it. Another set of eyes is what I needed. Thanks so much for taking the time to look at it. I know I could have just done it manually and moved on but it just bugs me to much not to do it right. Have a great day.
