PitMan71
I am a one-man show AND leaving a full time gig behind to draw plans and design full-time. i am 53 now and been drafting in some form for 35 years or so. I am new to Chief and thanks to everyone's help I am beginning to really like it over the other options. I see where Chief hosts trainings and conferences. If you have attended was your attendance beneficial? Was there a good return on your investment, or would those dollars been better spent elsewhere? Thanks Shane
DRAWZILLA
Back in 2005 I started using Chief, I took 2 classes in San Diego and it really helped me get my head around all the basics I needed to draw these plans, never looked back after that. Before that I just couldn't get the correct procedure Chief likes so everything falls in place for you. Definitely worth it for me. If you use Chief the correct way it never lets you down.

I'm Similar Perry, I was using versacad 2d a great leap from the drawing board unfortunately it was just 2d but a real gain from the drawing board. Then Chief 4.0 was available. I took a workshop from Steve Blake in ME Classes over his garage. Steve (unfortunately he has passed) was full of knowledge probably more than the Chief guys who some of witch he trained. Then until now it was off to the races.
PitMan71
This is very good feedback. Thanks to you both. My thinking.... a combination of chief training and consulting would be best. Training/conference to help build community and learn some general techniques on how to navigate the application. Consulting to target training around specific things I want to do on my drawings, etc. Right now I am forcing myself to use the application on all new projects. so far I have been successful at encountering challenges and then solving them by watching a video or asking a question here. ComputerMaster86
Daniel Bauman has a bi-weekly free webinar called the "Designer's Show". I have picked up on a lot of things over time viewing his free webinars. I have also viewed some of his paid content. I also pay for Rene Rabbitt's YouTube video content. Both have allowed me to pick up on a lot of things over time.
