westvale
Hello friends, Does anyone know if there's a comparable feature in CA to a solar study in Revit? Thanks!
Gawdzira
Heyermann solar study v2.pdf You can set the sun angle and latitude for your project. These are shots of orthographic top view cameras for the plan view shadows.
westvale
This is great! Can you provide any further information on how to do this?

Gawdzira
For that other project, I built a full model of the adjacent house since they were the neighbor requesting the solar study.
SHCanada2
I do it like below, each time of year that I do it has a separate layer, so I can turn on and off I use this site to double check: ShadowCalculator - Show sun shadows on google maps just be careful, timezone matters. some jurisdictions have specified times you have to do it at if this is a regulatory requirement
westvale
Hi Jason, thank you for the suggestions. That link doesn't work for me.... any suggestions?
SHCanada2
strange, it was up only a couple months ago. it was nice becuase you could draw a building on the map and specify the hieght https://shadowcalculator.eu/ There were ones that tried to map existing buildings, like http://shademap.app/ Make sure your CA and whatever app you try is set to the right timezone (including DST)
SHCanada2
oh, and...all these things assume flat earth, at least the ones I tried. They do not know the house next door could have a 10ft higher grade
