Walls, Hatching Layer Question

I couldn't find this in Help, but what is this layer used for?

Search help for "wall hatching" and lots of info...opening line in help below, with more info found within help:

"The Wall Hatching tool can be used to fill wall segments with a single hatch pattern in plan view. To apply wall hatching, select Build> Wall> Wall Hatching, then click on a wall. The hatch pattern covers the entire length and width of the wall segment."

"The "Walls, Hatching" layer is used for wall hatching when the Wall Hatching  tool is used."

 

I personally use this for designating interior bearing walls within my plan so I can turn that layer on and off for the various plans I want or don't want to display them on.
